Hi group,

A few weeks ago, a Tektronix TIVP02 200 MHz isoVu probe with TIVPMX10X.

This is one of the probes with fiber optic connections to the oscilloscope. This gives it really high CMRR. It is shown here attached to my MSO46.

Regards,

UFC-7HF5112S a hoof cartridge for my Metcal ultrafine handpiece

just arrived from Mouser - gloriously quick - as other suppliers had quite longish lead times

I think all the CV tips will work on MX, just not the other way around.

the UFC/UFTC tips (cartridges) are markedly different in size, so I would need that specific handpiece - it does say that there is then backwards compatibility to the MX power supplies.

I will dwell on that - not sure I want another handpiece but I'm a bit tempted to try CV soldering  :palm:

Let us know if you are happy with it.

Yes that's the one. Loading the battery now.

Also took the plunge on one of those a few weeks back, when there was a sale, the V3 seems to be based on two MAX2870 synthesizer chips.
Been looking into getting a TinyVNA for quite a few years, but every time I choke on all the different revisions that exist of these handheld VNA's and which to jump on.

Decided to get one of each, one that goes quite low from 10k to 2.7G, and the other goes from 1M to 6G
Both are metal-enclosed-variants with the bigger 4.3" (800x480) IPS screen and 5000Mah/4500Mah battery.
The one with the aluwheel, are quite a bit brighter screenwise.
Looked into what Sysjoint are selling the V3 for in China on their official Taobao channel.. it was significant more, than what you could get them for, on their western optimised salechannels with incl. 25% EUVAT.

After a few minutes of playing: I must say the video from Kerry Wong is spot on.
(I have also the V2).
Only nitpick: the blue cable is very stiff.

Sadly he doesn't show what firmware /rev he is on..there are a few things that ain't the case on my unit which arrived around two weeks back.
Kerry Wong highlights that his V3 unit can't go higher than 4.4GHz on the signal-out feature. (vid +16:04)

The signal generator on my V3 unit will gladly output up to 6.3GHz.. (unit Rev-B 0.5.3 Build date jan18 2024) Sysjoint.com SeeSii branded.
Yep, the incl. cables seem to be of the semi-rigid variant, which to an extent keeps their composure...I was pleasantly surprised to see that the V3 came with those rigid ones.

The V3 seems to perform quite a bit better than the previous V2 (way faster, though also more expensive)
Also looks to have a way more linear noisefloor than fx LiteVNA that seem to raise quite a bit in the higher span.. sadly Kerry Wong don't lift the soldered shielding on the LiteVNA.. do LIteVNA62/64 got only 1x MAX2871E synth chip on the board?

I'm also on the same 0.5.3  firmware (straight out of the factory).
You are right. The V3 can go higher than 4.4GHz.
I don't have a liteVNA, so I cannot help you with the last question.

Got some Bridgelux Thrive LED strips from Cutter.

Yeah in hindsight it was so obvious that dual-pump LEDs would behave wildly differently depending on drive current, oops. The datasheet specs them at 60mA pulsed, so the sweet spot for constant current is a little bit below that where both pumps(?) are on and in good balance. What a pain to implement but ehhhhhhh who needs dimming anyway, they're so cheap and work well in the sweet spot hahaha.  |O

The Nichia Optisolis are like 7 times more expensive....I guess that's what it costs for perfection, they behave well under different drive currents so are suitable for dimming. There's no getting around it, I'll have to blend different LEDs to get something high quality.

Bi-directional rangefinder, measurement device
100m in each direction, so max 200m in total, but need ideal/reflective circumstances for feedback at those distances..

(around 55$ at Aliexpr sale incl. 25%EUVAT)

I'm also on the same 0.5.3  firmware (straight out of the factory).

Talked with Kerry Wong, it seems his unit arrived with fw 0.5.0 (could be why, he was limited on the output)

I wonder if there was a 2 1/2 digit DVM way back ?

Yes, but not HP.  The ones I know of are the BK Precision 281 and the Heath IM-1202/IM-1210 (possibly had some other model numbers also).  It offends me that they exist  >:(

A VNA Demo Board Kit (8477) is shown with a 50 ohm load inserted. I bought it to test some crystals, among other applications.  So far, so good.

That kind of contradicts the "precision" in BK Precision.

I’ve had a few SMD repairs to do recently so yesterday I invested in a Craftright Tweezer Set from Bunnings for $5. After reading this thread on various tweezers I intend to purchase a couple of cross lock or reverse action sets probably from Ebay or Aliexpress, but the ones I just bought should suffice for now.
