Use a washer to make an angle grinder disc fit?
« on: September 11, 2014, 07:28:54 pm »
Hey all, got a cutting disc for my angle grinder, however it is too think by a little bit, I figured they would be universal but I guess not.

Anyways, most of the ones I saw were that thin and the place I bought it is fairly far away, so I was thinking maybe a washer would work to hold it down? I suppose there is more risk of it slipping, but I figure for the somewhat light work I'd be doing it might work  well enough :-//

Flip the locking nut around and it will grip properly. The nut has a lip on one side for the thick disks and the back side has a recess for the thin ones.

Should be OK did you try flipping the retaining nut over?

The nut or filler washer should be reversible to deal with different size discs.

The retaining nut is two sided. One for thin cutoff discs, and the other has a thicker collar for grinding disks.. Danger if you get it backwards...
