Neat! I like it, great execution. Maybe Dave could hire this guy to create some decoration for his new lab ;).

Notice that while you can get an idea of how a manual works by looking at the pictures, the automatic mostly remains a mystery.

Not enough LEDs for my advanced age - I think automatic transmissions are easier to understand if you dismember (oh, dismantle) and reassemble a few internal-gear bicycle hubs. Actually, now that I think of it I could copy the art-idea that started the thread - but then it is only derivative rather than original - and sort of pointless at that point. The first time I saw the original series of images I was most struck by the typewriter bits - sort of 'french curves' for drawing schematics.  ;)

If I was him, I would ask that guy for permission to print those photos on A5 or A6 paper and stick them to the walls! In fact, I think I am going to do that myself! I will have to do it on non-metric tabloid paper (two letter-sized sheets next to each other).
