Cheap DT830 DMM being zapped on live TV (in portuguese)

This is a famous Brazilian TV host that was showing how to use a Multimeter on live TV.



In all fairness, she was terribly advised by the production crew, which should have prepared her better and got a safer meter.

Oh, the "whys" of the datasheets... The information is there not to be an axiomatic truth, but instead each speck of data must be slowly inhaled while carefully performing a deep search inside oneself to find the true metaphysical sense...

Thou shalt not switch your meter to measure current when measuring voltage!

To be fair, it didn't seem to be measuring voltage very well either, even when it was on the right scale.

Yes. The outlets in Brazil are round and regular probe tips usually require some effort to properly make contact with their internal contacts.
