This is not mine it is for someone else. They don't want to be bothered anymore charging the battery up every 6 weeks so they want to wire it up to the 24v ac contacts on the back.
I came across this article:

The doorbell transformer has two parameters. The output voltage (eg. 16V )and the output power (eg. 10VA). The eufy wired doorbell requires 16-24VAC, 30VA or above voltage.
I am confused.  Most of the transformers they are recommending are way below 30VA.

Do you think this might be a mistake or am I missing something?

I do have some which I thought might be useful:
H AEN5220 24V 16.5VA Unloaded voltage 27v to 30v
Zyxel JAA-1601000F 16V 1000mah (1a) Unloaded voltage 18.3v

What do you think?

Just noticed something:
https://www.eufy.com/uk/products/e82101w4?variant=37778678808769
He has a Video Doorbell S220 with the base.

Video Doorbell S220.
Power Options:
Built-in Battery (180-day battery life) or Existing Doorbell Wiring (8-24V)

Quote
Video Doorbell 2K (Wired)
Power Options:
Existing Doorbell Wiring (16-24VAC, *30VA or above*)
I wonder is it specific for that model or did they leave it out for the others.

  • Just testing..........
It is true that their recommended transformers are rated at 30VA, but that is only because those transformers are normally used to drive a traditional chime mechanism.
I have the Eufy 2k video doorbell connected to my old chime transformer and I'm sure if draws a very low current (probably no more than 100mA or so). I haven't measured it but it is noticeable that the transformer doesn't get nearly as warm as it used to do.

It is also obvious that the chime transformer only trickle charges the doorbell judging by the time it takes to charge it back up again so I think the doorbell deliberately limits the current drawn from the transformer anyway.

Edited to say that the transformer voltage is more important as most UK chime transformers are lower voltage than 24v specified. I found that the doorbell wasn't too sensitive and it worked anyway with what I had.

Thank you very much but sorry to waste your time as I think I missed the point:

Install without existing doorbell or chime.
https://support.eufy.com/s/article/How-to-Hardwire-Your-eufy-Wired-Doorbell-without-an-Existing-Wires

I see those URL's are to do with powering existing doorbells, chimes and the eufy camera at the same time:
https://support.eufy.com/s/article/How-to-Connect-Your-eufy-Wired-Doorbell-With-Transformer-and-Chime-UK-EU
https://support.eufy.com/s/article/How-to-Upgrade-Doorbell-Transformer

But still it says this "The eufy wired doorbell requires 16-24VAC, 30VA or above voltage. [/quote]
On it's own? Just the doorbell itself. I find it misleading.

Maybe what they mean is, as you say about the recommendations, to upgrade the existing to that recommended higher power 30va one so they'd be enough power for everything else and other things.

If they are recommending 16 to 24vac 12 to 14va power supplies which are a little less than the ones have then maybe I have nothing to worry about.

Just found this:

2K Wired Doorbell Power requirements
Emailed Eufy quite a bit on this and they eventually tell me that I can ignore the 30VA power requirement if I'm not using existing wires. They recommended *24v/500mA, 18V, 500mA, and **16V/800mA power adapters for use if I did not have existing doorbell wires.
So nothing to worry about. Solved.

Their recommended wall plugs for just the doorbells:
Quote
VIIVRIA 24V / 500mA doorbell transformer 12va
Voyaux 16V (18v on picture and title) / 800mA doorbell transformer 14.4va
So that makes either of these suitable:
*Zyxel JAA-1601000F 16V 1000mah 16va
** H AEN5220 24V  687mah 16.5VA

I noticed with the H AEN5220 24V, it has an unloaded voltage of 27v to 30v. I am not sure how low that is going to go in the 16-24v range on load with the doorbell and if the spikes could be a problem. Do you think this might be a bit too high or the doorbell?
