Thanks, didn't think of this one. Added it as a variant of "reset".

I often put one of the following comments
// kick the dog
Or
//kick the cop

Actually I wouldn't kick a dog I love them, but a cop ....weell with what they have been up to lately it is possible.

I refer to it as reset the watchdog, Microchip calls it clearing the watchdog.
Cryptocurrency has taught me to love math and at the same time be baffled by it.

Cryptocurrency lesson 0: Altcoins and Bitcoin are not the same thing.

I think no! This is the "brown-out" detection circuit. Usually the BOR (Brown Out Reset), to avoid the ... misbehaving.

No, some also get kicked by the processor. If it doesn't get kicked, then the processor is assumed to have stopped/crashed and is reset.

Way back, we put a watchdog into an FPGA, so we had control over the 'feeding' mechanism. The processor had to write 0xFEEDF1D0 into the watchdog register to not be reset

You 'feed' the watchdog in only one location in code.
If you need to do something that may take some time you give him a 'snack'
You define a maximum number of snacks the dog can eat before his meal
Greek letter 'Psi' (not Pounds per Square Inch)

Since its a timer, same thing you'd say when you reset a timer register.

"Why aren't you working you little bugger?"?    :)

(Week before last I was in a maze of twisty STM32 timer documentation, not getting the results I wanted or expected. Now, thankfully, sorted. Warning for the uninitiated - don't expect STM32 timer interrupts to preserve the ordering of wraparound and capture on the same timer if the interrupts are raised in very close proximity to each other.)
