Any of you EU gamers play online games?
Think we could meet for a giggle in some free game, EEVBlogSmash!

I could set up a Steam group (EEVBlogGamers?) if anyone knows if that'd be OK with Dave et al.

Would be best to get permission from Dave first IMHO.
A steam group will work for all members across the globe too, a TS server as well and we are all set for some shenanigans :)

Hail gaben.

You never know EEVBlog on steam might be worth the weight :D

We could play rounds of doom or quake if anyone has it. I can host.

If anyone is open to new things and liked the sonic genesis games we can try a fan game called Sonic Robo Blast 2.

It's a 3D sonic game based off the doom engine, and it's a 3D sonic game done right. Totally free and I am willing to host a server.

And it's doom engine. I have an IBM 325 server that can play it. XD
I forget who I am sometimes, but then I remember that it's probably not worth remembering.

I have Anno 2070, Payday 1/2, Borderlands 2 and not much else. I also haven't played any of them in a while so I'm a bit rusty  :)

PlanetSide 2 is free to download and free to play(can get it through Steam).
Drive tanks, fly aircraft, run and gun, infiltrate, repair or heal.
1000 players on 64Km map.

If EU, then join Miller server as Vanu Sovreignety.
I am lowly player there (aiming for 0.5 K/D!), but I can help if only to drive you round and explain things.

Thanks tautech.
The box is getting a bit old now - about 4 years.
I am in the middle of designing the spec for a new one.
I think I will go back to just 2 monitors though - maybe 4K...  :)

Nice box. Good old 9800GTX. Had one too until 3 years ago. And at work at that time a Quadro FX4800 :)

Are those the old aspect ration screens MrB?

Might be a cost efficient way of doing things if so.

Either way I like it :)

Yes they are.
They cost me nothing, so I chose to use them instead of buying new ones.

this is my HTPC system, just built a few months ago.

using:

cpu: haswell 45w i7 chip (4 real cores, 8 threads), the i7-4790t
http://ark.intel.com/products/80809/Intel-Core-i7-4790T-Processor-8M-Cache-up-to-3_90-GHz

case: streacom fc8-evo
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00958DB9U

ram: 16gb low profile
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00A14ZT8I/

psu: pico-psu 160w (overkill, but not too expensive)
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005TWE6B8

disk: samsung ssd
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-120GB-mSATA3-Solid-Retail/dp/B00HT2RNSO

and that's about it.  not many parts, but its supposed to be a minimal build.

added/unexpected bonus: when I bought a new tv (vizio 39" m-series) and connected it up with win7, I was able to set the refresh at true 120hz for 1920x1080p.  wow, 120hz really makes a HUGE difference, and its using just the onboard intel video.

I have a pair of media bridges (asus 68u) that link the htpc with my nas and the rest of my home network.  getting good link speed, too:

Found a good pic of mine. I've since replaced the PSU (from 750W Bronze to 1000W Platinum) and fixed up the cable management, but otherwise that's current.

Caselabs Merlin SM8
Corsair AX1200i power supply
EVGA Classified Z97
Intel i7 4790K
2x SanDisk Extreme Pro @240GB, RAID1
32GB DDR3@2133
Asus Strix GTX970
EK water blocks
alphacool radiators
Corsair SP fans
Aquaero 5 fan/pump controller
D5 pump

Yeah, it's watercooled. Call it overkill or a waste. No worries. I call it fun - and silent.

PS: All file storage is NAS using a core i3 on a Mini ITX, 16GB, LSI 9211 HBAs, and 8x 2TB WD Reds in a mirrored stripe via NAS4Free.

Corsair AX1200i power supply
1200W PSU? Are the waterpumps that hungry, or do you have 2x GTX970?

I hope you don't use ZFS volumes for backup purposes... (afaik i3 doesn't support ECC memory)
In all likelihood you don't, otherwise you wouldn't have an LSI 9211 in your box  :)
