This publication represents the largest LTC commitment
to an application note to date. No other application note
absorbed as much effort, took so long or cost so much.

Famous last page as well!

Very nice section covering Murphy's law(s).
Page flipping to the Murphy's Law section, at end, I'm seeing lots of good RF and other high speed design notes.  Almost might be useful in beginners section, as this has very good quality things to learn, analog-wise.

That one could have it's own website as well.
AN-47 is probably the most cited AN ever.  :D

There are lies, damned lies, statistics - and ADC/DAC specs.
Glider pilot's aphorism: "there is no substitute for span". Retort: "There is a substitute: skill+imagination. But you can buy span".

Jim Willimans was an old friend, last seen at an AES convention (2007?) where he gave a 1 hr talk on the design/restoration and improvement of the original  Hewlett Packard 200 audio oscillator of 1930s their first product.

Even at that time Jin was in declining  medical condition.

Jim was a REAL OLD TIME Analog genius.

I use to see Bob PEASE at the Foothill ARRL Ham Radio fleas in 1980s.

Jim and Bob they have left a legacy of Analog  Circuit and IC  design.

Here is my 'Murphy was an A-hole' quick story:

19XX, and Qual-Testing Lab Viking Labs, Cupertino, CA.  They provided (aviation) quality and environmental testing.  Environmental in this sense meaning hot/cold vacume and vibration, for aviation standards.

Vibration 'table' was this big,  1.5 meter cubed 'Voice Coil' very much like in a very large loudspeaker.
Plus, our little new product box, just a couple ICs plus some aircraft style mech. relays, would ALSO need to do a soak, in an OVEN attachment, to that vibration test box.
Needs all 3 axis, in something like 3 hours (vibration under heat) each axis.

Well, "There's no need to bring enough CASH, for hotel tonight...the thing has made it this far" (2 axis tested, one to go).
Readers, you can probably guess the ending   The internal mechanical 28 V relay FAILED, at hour #2...
Not close enough for bribery or other subterfuge.
Calls to the BOSS at home (10 pm), got out of there (Viking Labs) at past 3 am (no hotel).

Our WHOLE factory line was impacted, bad.  Double shifts and other 'crisis' conditions.

Lesson learned:
Carry or hide some cash, when on business related trips...(No nearby relatives to help out).
