Makes perfect sense if the printer is a Model 33.

I think my first brush with a computer was with something like that - my mother worked for a company that acquired one for accounts, and one school holiday when she had to take me into the office with her, the boss challenged me to a game of golf on it.

Have to say it was quite underwhelming. No flashing lights, just a normal typewriter, albeit one that sometimes typed on its own.

Normally you'd tack down only one of the pins at that stage of soldering so either way would work.
