Static-ness of a AC sheet(fibro) as a workbench.
« on: May 01, 2013, 03:25:21 am »
Let me spell that..   Ess haitch eee eee tee. Sheet.

Had to use shelf on a all-metal rack as a bench at work. It had a 16mm thick 900x450mm AC fibro sheet laying on it because the metal shelf under it was the welded open wire type so someone planted the fibro sheet on there to at least make the shelf useful.

It was near a powerpoint and all I needed to do was recharge a laptop. But it got me wondering, if was doing anything remotely electronic on that surface, what are the static characteristics of fibro?

The newer stuff should be pretty safe.
Cryptocurrency has taught me to love math and at the same time be baffled by it.

Cryptocurrency lesson 0: Altcoins and Bitcoin are not the same thing.

If you have any worries wipe it down with fabric softener, and let dry. Place the cloth you use in a plastic bag and throw it away after wiping. Now it is clean, non static and fragrant for weeks.

Thanks.  :-+

But I'm never going to clean it and/or make it stink pretty.

I'm certain I'd get called all sorts of derogatory names if someone caught me domesticating the place.
