if it is a china company they will be scared of your negative feedback  so use it if you have to. They can ask for you to review and alter negative feedback later if they resolve the problem after you left it. I have found that sometimes leaving such feedback gets it resolved.

It looks though like you have had a fairly prompt reply and they are doing their best. return shipping to china is often much more than the unit cost, I think the Chinese government subsidise outbound shipping.

Double check what the last day is to make a paypal claim. A common trick is to say they're sending a replacement part and that it will take a few weeks, and by the time you realise its not coming you can't open a paypal claim. So, if it hasn't arrived by then, open the claim saying you will close it once the part arrives.

That being said, I've not had any problems with sellers on ebay from china. I had the above tactic happen to me from some guy in the USA who sent a completely incorrect part :| Seeing as how its a cheap component I'm sure it'll be replaced. If it was the whole thing (ie expensive to replace) some sellers will try to avoid refunds/replacement ;)

After some use at 400C mine started to soften and melt.

I started looking for a replacement part from a plumbing store that will fit this diameter and do the same thing.  I haven't found the right size but some are fairly close.  What you need is a pipe or conduit lock nut or worse just use a small diameter hose clamp, and cut off a mesh screen as a heat guard for your hand held in place by the hose clamp.

Best Wishes,

dear friend
we feel really sorry to see that
in fact
before we sent the item to you
we have tested it
maybe it was damaged during shipping
we will check it at once
should be replied as...
Quote
yes its 100% ok leaving your factory...
yes it got damaged during shipping which you have no control of...
but... if its not because of your stupid dumb soft cardboard packaging, this thing will not have happened!
action to be taken. after failed nego with seller for few days... paypal dispute... item not as described (damaged during shipping)
lets see how they react if paypal hold/refund the payment. i also in the process since some item bought from china seller is not the same as pictured in ebay.

i sometime got pissed off. the one communicate with you is just a receptionist who have no clue whats going on. the one who actually pick and pack the item for shipping is another buddy from another dept i guess. the one who advertise and make supply order etc are another guys. incoordination, this i think one reason why most chinese sellers cannot reach 100% feedback mark.

That's some good news  :)

But be aware that it can be fragile, and even the new to need some extra babysitting.  ;D
Its better to be alerted than sorry.

Did you learn what it would cost as spare part ? + shipping

When you see how and where they are made, it all becomes clear  :P They are what they are, cheap and cheerful.

All the repair technicians worldwide also do the job by hand.   :)

The assembly of the final product is the easiest part, of the job.
The what happens ...  if the what ever project did not work as it should , separates the qualified technicians from the rest.  ;)

Thanks for the video.

Watching that video makes me realize that I should check every solder joint where a wire is connected to a terminal if the product comes from factories like this one. That guy was a complete hack when soldering the power wires  in the beginning of the video. Just hold the wire to the terminal and solder? Not in my world. I would have fired my workers if I found them doing that on equipment in the shop I managed.
