Anyway your setup rocks Mr.B.  :-+
But your bench is WAY too tidy.  :-DD
And lacking in Siglent gear.........

Thanks.
You should have seen it before... shameful...
Recommend me a Siglent measurement unit that I should add to my collection, given the kit you saw in the lab photos... Open to suggestions for a "Semi Professional Hobbyist"...
(maybe i am giving myself too much credit...)
Where are we going, and why are we in a handbasket?

Well, this today's view from my workroom window, plus a slightly moodier winter picture.

It reminds me of the Peco model railway backdrops from 50 years ago - which you can still buy!

There are lies, damned lies, statistics - and ADC/DAC specs.
Glider pilot's aphorism: "there is no substitute for span". Retort: "There is a substitute: skill+imagination. But you can buy span".

That is nice, all I see is winter grass, dying from lack of water in the possible drought.

Not quite from my office window, I had to walk across the courtyard to get this photo.

These are my views.  First a shot from what I see from one of my desks at my home-lab in a suburb to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Then two pics from my condo at the "edge" of downtown Bangkok, luckily my view is westwards
giving me a clear skyline, facing east I'd just stare into some buildings that are are taller than my 39&40th floor unit.  :-)

The farmer left the near field fallow this spring. Usually has wheat or corn -- makes a better picture. But this is the first time this year you can see this without the massive ponds everywhere.
This can't be happening.

A view from today's "bench"

The bench is in the basement, so when I have work to do that doesn't require soldering/scoping, I try to do it outside if possible. Helps keep the skin from being shockingly bright and helps keep the brain a little happier about the long hours.

Couldn't agree more. Combats a lot of the bad things in life.

Today's office (Kew Gardens, London)...

£62 a year for outdoor office space 15 minutes walk away from where I live :)

Only thing you have to worry about is bird shit.

One thing I notice is that many people here live/work in an area with nature/space. This is something I myself need and on thinking about it I suppose its a common theme here.
Is it both true and ironic that people who are of a technical inclination need to be around nature to feel good with their lives?

Is the London economy now so bad they can't even afford colour?

Usual miserable weather we have here, and possibly because I pressed the wrong buttons trying to take the photo, who knows!

People who look at their neighbours house, a shrub, or have no view at all ar unlikely to bother to photograh it or think others would be interested.  The people who posted here are a self selecting group.

{Raises self-selected hand}
My window views are crap, so no point posting. And if I started posting pics of bushwalking places I like, you'd all be bored by endless random scenery pics.
Here's a compromise idea: Aerial view of your general neighborhood via Google maps or whatever, not actually centered on your own home. Here's my neck of the Sydney suburban 'woods'.

Who has played https://www.geoguessr.com/ ?
If you hide all identifying text, url, etc on a static aerial view image, it could be quite hard to work out where in the world it is, to the point of being able to replicate the image on google maps.

Sydney and the river (and assuming the picture was North-orientated) was enough to find this one in about 5 minutes though.

Sure. I wasn't suggesting my image would be hard to find. Especially since my address is on my website anyway.
I meant others might want to play a 'find me if you can' game. Did you have fun looking around Sydney for my image?

This was the view from my bench in 2004. These days it's a car park.

Not my window but my deck. I've been working way too hard recently but I'm off now.  Sittin' in the hammock, sipping a Hefeweizen and reading EEVblog. It's summertime and the livin' is easy...

Cheers!

Been meaning to post pics for a while and now the weathers a little better, here we go:

From my back paddock looking east to downtown Auckland
(where the water can be seen)

Looking west to OZ

On a clear day the sea can be seen in each pic, that is completely across this part of NZ.  :-DD
