Very annoying, but also quite possible.  I try to make it a practice NOT to buy from sellers who pull that crap.  (Though of course the keyword they used that landed me on their auction is likely the one they've misused, so I wouldn't be buying it anyway because it's exactly NOT what I'm looking for...   :wtf:)

That's not a nixie tube display. That is a 6 bit digital tube display. You can find many variations on ebay.
