What would you buy with £150?
« on: February 06, 2015, 02:00:30 pm »
Bit of a long winded story but the short version is I'm doing some work for a different department at work. They're paying me for my time by buying £150 worth of stuff for my workshop.

As this is outside of our overly complex and restrictive purchasing system this is probably a good opportunity for me to get stuff that's not from RS or Farnell.

The sort of stuff I do is designing/building one-offs for people's science experiments, helping students with their projects etc. I've already got a decent soldering setup, basic test equipment etc.

I was thinking a bus pirate might be useful because I'm always working with RS232 or I2C stuff.

Any other thoughts on what goodies you would buy if someone gave you £150?

a fridge and 3 crates of beer ;)   >:D

Bus pirate can be useful, so can a USB logic analyzer. :-DMM

Perhaps some part that you always wanted to play with, a fpga dev kit or so.  :-/O

The temptation to ask for dinner and two bottles of Highland Park is strong :)

A low to mid range hooker and cheap blow.

Or some bronze to make a small mechanical application specific computer.

Or maybe something actually useful...

...nope not a chance unfortunately.
