That was very painful to watch. I was hoping he cut his hand off when he was punching the broken screen. There was no need to cut the thing open to see what's in it.

If he bought the machine and wants to destroy it I guess he entitled to do that, but seems a shame. I know there are people that would love those parts, or even the whole vintage machine intact. Can we not just remove a side panel and show the innards?  I've seen this guy before. He just rips things apart and doesn't really have much of a clue what he's looking at. Seems a little pointless buts that's You Tube.  :-//

There's no need to rip off a side. Everything inside an arcade machine can be accessed by removing a few screws. The whole back comes off allowing you to see most of it, then a few more screws to remove the controls, coin mechanism, glass panels, light bulbs, speakers, etc.

Destroying devices seems the whole point of that channel.

I have been commenting on their videos like "You guys can collaborate with iFixit and showcase proper teardowns." And the respond I get is that "The fun of this channel is destroying things." Oh well...

You should suggest a teardown of his house and car. Even offer to help. Lol

But my point was that no cutting was necessary! Just take out a few screws and no need to destroy it.

This is just another version of the "Will it blend?" Youtube channel.  Pointless destruction.  Just the sort of thing that occurs when a conquering army loots and pillages a city.

Civilizations go through phases.  One where they grow and build wealth and knowledge.  And another where they gnaw the bones of the prior greatness.  This class of videos is a sign of a phase change, hopefully one that will die without fruition.

:palm: can't watch this , the horror.
And that is the example he sets for his son?
I really do hope so very much he returns home one day and his son says full of pride:
"Look dad what is inside the 85" lcd tv and inside the couch and inside your car, i took it apart, great huh?"

Exactly. Picture this scene, some years in the future ...

Mom and Dad come home from a day out, and find that their refrigerator lies on the kitchen floor in pieces, with an axe and sawzall on the floor.

My Gawd! Son what happened!

I was just interested in looking inside it to see how it worked, I learned how to do it from Daddy  :-//
I told my friends I could teach them to be funny, but they all just laughed at me.

4.7M subscribers and pushing Best Fiends... that must be some pretty impressive revenue.

Huge shame to see the destruction of a nice piece of history.

This perfectly demonstrates what happened to the TLC and the Discovery channel.

it went from science to this kind of nonsense.

There was some program called "how it's made" or something to that effect, and I found it very interesting.

It's unbelievable they get paid for such acts of childesh behavior and outright stupidity. I guess pays to be an asshole in public these days...    :palm:
Someone (all of us) should express our disgust to all of his sponsers. Would it even be worth the time though?

I'm glad that seems to be the general consensus around here.

1980 tech and it still worked well! Let's see if his iPod and games are still work 37 years from now; I doubt it. Nothing built today lasts long term anymore.  That joystick and contacts were amazing! Imagine the abuse that machine could take from a frustrated kid!?  That computer board with discreet ic chips; none of that FPGA rubbish! All the chips looks socketed. The color CRT was still decent. The voltage amplifier, as he called the power supply (idiot) was built to last the ages. I mean, after 37 years it was still playable. What he did should be a crime.

Oh "They aren't rare" my arss... grrrrrr grrrrr
