Connector help
« on: June 26, 2012, 01:27:15 am »
Hey all,

I've had a bit of a puzzler here at work for a few days, so I'd like to ask you all for some help: I've been working on an FTIR that the users are reporting noise problems with. When I removed the detector and preamp assembly, a rather dodgy bit of soldering caught my eye on a particular connector.

What it was/is is a 3mm(o/d) SMB connector on RG174, going into a 90 degree receptical on the PCB. HOWEVER, it's not one of the standard 0.1, 5-pin jobs that Farnell et-al have... It was a two pin connector, 5mm centre-to-centre, with 0.8mm diameter leads. Unfortunately, I made a bit of a hash of getting it off the board and mangled it quite badly.

I was just hoping that someone out there might have run across a similar connector. If I happen across something similar, I'll post it up.

Cheers,
Peter

We need a picture of it, it's too hard to find stuff from a description alone

Hi Psi,

Thanks for the rapid response. Please pardon my utterly terrible model, as I've just started using Sketch-up as of 20 minutes ago for purposes of this very question! Here's a model that shows VERY roughly what I'm on about!

Thankyou again for your help!

EDIT 1:

AH-HA! I just saw it! Third from the left on the front page of this catalog:

Edit 2:

Radiall R280220007, which is a fixed receptical, not a detachable connector as I thought. Oh dear, I must look very silly now.
Thankyou for your help!
