Problem with AliExpress login
« on: July 04, 2024, 01:35:26 pm »
Hi there,

Maybe someone who can help me a bit.

A week ago I ordered some stuff from AliExpress sellers which went fine. But after that I cannot manage to login on the website. However I do get the usual emails from AliExpress telling me about the progress of the shipping. I do login with plain old email address and password so no facebook or apple or whatever.

When I enter my password I do see that circular progress indicator going but then I see the very same login screen, without any error messages. I'm using firefox web browser version 115.0.3 (32-bit).

Things I tried so far to resolve it myself.

1. Tried to login with my android smartphone, same problem.
2. Had my password changed. The password change did work, I did get an email with some verification code and I did reset my password. But then same problem.
3. Tried to contact AliExpress help center. But I first need to login to get in contact with them so that doesn't work either.

Well, I'm out of options. What should I do now?

Yeah their site can be a bit janky, tried a random free VPN like tunnelbear (and different browsers)? I think you might be getting stuck on the verification slider.

Clear cookies and/or use private browser session.

Make sure to delete all cookies for aliexpress.* domains. AliExpress sometimes tries to redirect to a local version of the site (for me it is .com -> .us), and it gets majorly confused in the process.

Thank you so much. That did work! I've erased 1.3 GB of cookie garbage and now I can login again at AliExpress.

Their web site has more errors.
I tried to use a link inside one of their EMails about the progress of my order and that always pointed me to a registration panel instead of a login panel.
On another occasion i wanted to reduce their advertising. It worked, but only after i clicked twice (!) in Account -> Settings -> Notifications -> Activate - when i wanted to stop those EMails. Need to see whether the new settings work.
Maybe kind of a language barrier. I wouldn't want to produce a Chinese web interface..

I noticed a fun thing too. Cleared cookies and looked for items, not connected to my account. Found some pretty aggressive promotions. Added some in the basket. Then connected to my account. And the price of said items in my basket jumped right back at their normal price.

Do they have "selective" promotions? ::)

Yes that is the new user promotion, nothing unusual to see, normal for many sites to offer big coupons to new users.
But it does confuse some youtubers when they show the price and think its super low.. have to login first or use ali price tracker.

Clearing the cookies of Ali also helps to find better results when searching for something.

Have had this many times. Try to find some part, and it returns a load of garbage nothing to do with the part I was looking for. Cleared the cookies and tried the search again. Wonder wonder the results included matches for the needed part.  :palm:

Also had some issues with login a while back, where it told me that the user already existed.   |O

Yes I know, I'm trying to login not register again, you idiots. But for this I also had to clear the cookies to be allowed to login again.   :box:

Yes, they do this to pad searches with few results or no results.  I was so confused until I worked out what was going on.  I'll try clearing my cookies, thanks :)

(Sorting the results used to fix this, but now the site often claims there are "No results" when you do that, even if you use words literally in the title of a known item)

Yes big coupons. Like 85% off. WTF. ;D
Oh, and the nasty little bugs, they do it as well when sending emails to people who have an account, with promotions on some products. They show the "new user" price, most of the time. Then you click on the link, and the price is twice, or more. That one is a little, uh, nastier practice.

And what about all the low prices shown for an article you like and then when opening the page find it to be for just a header or a cable and the actual item being 3 or 4 times more expensive. Makes searching a drag, but still with the choice options and select three for 1,xx option still makes it worth while.

Once in a while items arrive late and you get a 1 euro or dollar bonus, but that is also good for them, because you have to spend money again to use the bonus, and you can only use one of them per sale, so if three items arrived late you are enticed to buy multiple times again. Spending 4 or 5 euros per sale. Certainly good for them.  8)

Ebay has this problem for many years and they've never fixed it. So don't expect any change soon. You can report the item if you want as deceptive if you are bored.

No idea whats up with Choice select items, sometimes they have $10 to $25 products for a few dollars.

Yep, this one practice is also a blatantly deceptive one. This shouldn't be allowed. They show the most expensive item of the bunch, while they display the price of the lowest item on the article page, which often contains "variants" of some article on the same page, from just small accessories to the complete article itself. Unacceptable.

Here here.

Price on what you click on?  Bait and switch, that price is for the piece of string you use to attach it to your wrist.

Sort by cheapest?  First page of results is useless, prices fluctuate wildly once you click in and deselect the piece of string.

Ah, yes, let's mention the search engine is crap, and the sorting feature doesn't work, most of the time.

Prices are "Welcome Deal" or "Choice Day" bait. As if the flashlight is really $1.39 or -93% discount. china so cheap :D
Then you log in and the prices multiply many times.
Then you find that price is only for some accessory - not the main item. Click on the item and the price jumps up again.
Lately it's got a lot of ripoff pricing- I can buy items in North America for the same price.
The S/N ratio on pricing there is gross. Then you add on shipping...

Alibaba and Aliexpress do some odd login stuff. They're always messing with how logins work.

Many years ago for some reason my account started pre-filling my login name as the characters "nz" followed by 9 numbers.
(No doubt NZ means New Zealand as that is where I am.)
But that's not my login and I never created it, my login has always been my email address.
For some reason alibaba/aliexpress created an alternative login name for my account. It seems to be my member ID i think.

I've noticed that sometimes I cannot login using my email, but using the nz+number always works. It's odd.
Both access the same account, it's like they gave everyone two login names.

I had another one a while back, but in the end the joke was on them.

Saw a handheld battery spot welder for ~12,50 and thought now that is cheap, so added it to my basket and kept on shopping. After an hour or so I had found the rest of what I wanted to order and went to checkout, only to notice that the spot welder deal had expired. The price was back op to ~40 euro, while others offer the same or similar for about 25 euro. So I thought sod it, will delay shopping to the tomorrow.

And the joke is that it was back to ~12,50 the next day, so I directly bought it and 6 days later it arrived and works like a charm.  :-DD

With the choice items the bonus is the free shipping when you buy three different items or spend at least 10 euros. So that is what I do now. Fill my basket with choice items only and wait until I have 10 euros worth in it. Still look for the cheapest offer of course, but it saves at least 2 euros on shipping. Another bonus is the fast shipping of 6 to 12 days guaranteed. Bonus euro per item if late.

Had a similar issue before! Clearing my browser’s cache and cookies did the trick for me. If that doesn’t work, try using the AliExpress app or a different browser. Sometimes a quick device restart helps too.

Speaking of the app, coupons that sellers send you via messages can't be seen using Ali's web site, they only work using the app (which I don't use). Very nice!

Welcome to the latest form of discrimination. You need an app to get discounts. Shop loyalty schemes that discriminate between customers, like the Lidl that uses different prices for app baring customers and non app baring customers. What if you don't even have a smartphone? Pure discrimination.

One of the problems of data analysis is to identify the customer, independent of some login credentials that might be abused or reused by family members. I think a cellphone is a better cookie and they pay for that. Like my bank gave me an optical device as a present to use during login.

Yep. Although in this case, I'm not sure it is intentional - though, given that it's been going on for quite a while, they would have fixed it if it weren't.

Yep. Smartphones are pretty much always with their users, almost wherever they go (even in the toilet for many, yes, don't lie! :-DD ). And unless you explicitely disable location services (which may prove annoying if you have any use for them), apps can access your location and see where you go, which helps making an image of customers.

Does the Aliexpress Message function actually work for anyone? For years it does this crap "please download the app"
