Not a problem for the cat, but better avoid that if he's allowed to go outside, it's their main defense against other animals.
I also like the claws, but some cats are plain dumb or too sensible.
I had a cat, although very gentle, would extend them most of the times I lifted him, attaching to my clothes/skin like his life was in danger, but completely relaxed, he just did that for no reason!
That and beating the sofa / bed when bored.
So yep, a trimming every 10-15 days was a must for that little bastard!
He was just a plain idiot: yelling at 4am for food, once you got up and went to see, oh I have food!
False alarm human, forget it.
His brother was stronger and bigger, but with a completely different personality, a lot nicer, also way smarter, he knew how stupid his brother was and would "correct" him when he started doing dumb stuff
Then the idiot ate too much one day, we came from work and found the cat stuck behind a closet, he had pushed all he could to stuff that fat belly in, but the butt was left behind! That was hilarous. The big one came after him, licked few times, and applied some "corrective" mild slaps for being so dump.
The cat I took care of last weekend (Already with the owner) didn't show the claws even when 3 strangers grabbed him while a dog was barking at him! He just shrinked in our arms like a baby.
Oh but in play time... The young feeecker had a lot of energy, took 5 seconds to learn to not use my hand to play with him!
My wrist is full of marks like I tried to commit suicide
