But it's a fine line between calling out their BS, and giving them publicity and potential ammunition. i.e. they might selectively quote me as proof that I'm validating their product in some way.

Not really.
I'm trying to keep off-topic stuff out of the blog of course, so you are unlikely to see a random rant on Telstra or the US gummnint.
And I just don't bother accepting known shit products for review, and nothing has blown up on me lately.

Its not that there needs to be more off topic shit or ranting in my opinion.  I would like to see the blog venture away from mailbag and teardown tuesday in my opinion.  It is too monotonous.  I would really like to see more of your tutorials like your eagle and capacitor tutorials.  Thanks dave for accepting all of our criticism

Mailbag was a surprise hit. It gets huge views and I get continued requests when the next one is, so due to popularity it's gotta stay.
A lot of people subscribed to the channel because of Teardown Tuesday, so I have to keep that up (and I like the regular nature, it forces me to do stuff).
So those two segments really have to stay, most people like regularity. But therein lies the problem, to keep providing regular material to keep everyone happy (teardowns, mailbag, tutorials, reviews, rants, etc), there will always be those who see all the other regular segments and think it's too much   

I do want to commit to a regular tutorial segment, I think that's needed. I'm just trying to figure out the best way to do that, which I think has to be short videos. If I tried to produce a in-depth tutorial video each week, I think I'd be screwed.
