TEquipment still sells it for $700, but it is worth to ask. They seem to cost $550 on eBay.

It it from a official resaler? What about the warranty?

Saelig is official. Tell them you come from the EEVBlog so they get happy with Dave and the forum.

They're official.  I bought a DS1052E at Saelig a week before the price dropped to $399. They called and told me and voluntarily refunded the difference. The free padded bag is nice, too.

Very interesting, so what's the price of the 1052e now? $200? $300?  That would devastate its competition if it were so.

Still $399 at Saelig. Now, why do I think they won't sell many in the near future?

That's good to know. You also get free shipping.

By the way, how much money did they refund to you?

I had to go back and check the invoice...  At the time (May-2010), they had the lowest price for an authorized US dealer at $519, and they refunded $120.  Fortunately I never had to deal with any warranty issues, but I'm guessing they would be good to deal with based on this experience.  I've stayed on their mailing list.  :D

That it can be sold for the same price as the 1052e just about confirms and validates the value of the mods posted on forum for some years.

I would guess Rigol is unloading unsold stock.  I would speculate that in the future they will discontinue the 1052e and continue the 1102e at $400.

As the 100 MHz is just a negligible firmware change, they'll be able to maintain a price unchanged for a design that's at least 4-5 years old, label it as 100 MHz and compete with the Hantek, Owon types selling 100 MHz scopes lower than the previous price of the 1102e.

Yes, I suspect that's what might be happening now.
It's an old design now, and several other are now competing with 100MHz models, so it looks like 100MHz might be becoming the new low end baseline.

$50 for "no hack hassle", nice DS1102E and 100MHz sticker. well, i agree with the topic.

I can still get the 1052E delivered to Australia for about $315. Last time I looked,a 1102E delivered was about $440, so there still is some incentive for the hack.

Saelig is sold out of the DS1102E.  Anyone aware of another vendor at $399?

Saelig's webpage for the DS1052E now says "Free Upgrade to DS1102E."

I emailed them to see how we go about getting the upgrade, since I didn't see it on Rigol's site.

Sounds more like if you order a DS1052E from Saelig now they automatically send you a DS1102E. I don't see they offer to upgrade already sold DS1052Es.

Agreed with BaW, I read this like a free upgrade to next-day shipping: they'll send you a DS1102E instead of a DS1052E for free if you order a DS1052E.

It seems like here in Europe we will just have to wait for a price drop =/
