I'm Ryan, an electrical engineering student at RMIT in Melbourne Australia. I love a bit of electrical/electronics DIY and programming/linux.

Been a while since I've signed up to a forum, thought I'd make a post to verify I'm human.

Sea going Captain, working ashore for more than 23 years as Marine Surveyor / Supercargo, after spending 17 years at sea. Thinking of moving soon to a better place, most probably out of this city and expecting to slowdown in my job.

I dabble in analogic and digital (various flavors), quite frequently in designs going as proof of concepts, most of them started as a challenge to myself.

I can see that sarcasm and flaming are not frequent here.

I am Ronnie and I currently live in Singapore.

I have been interested in Electronics since childhood. I have a degree in Electrical and Electronics engineering although I haven't worked in core engineering job since graduation. I liked to build small problem solving robots during college days and now I am a RC hobbyist mostly helicopters. Currently I am planning on different electronics projects and setting up a small lab.

Came upon this forum from the youtube channel of Dave and loved it.

        I already posted a couple of times and didn't come across this until now. This a great site with great information and help as well. I am currently living close to Cape Canaveral in Florida, USA (get to watch the launches all the time). Unemployed at the moment but working at a new career in electronics. I came across this site while looking for guitar tube amplifier repair info. My hobbies are, guitar, ham radio, fishing, target shooting (haven't gone hunting yet), golf, photography, electronics repair, flea markets and ham fests. Welcome, I love German equipment, and it *is* pricey.  I've found eBay and patience are your friend.  The best grabs I've got were from sellers who buy large surplus lots (base/lab/whatever closes) has a tech do a quick test to bin equipment into: powers up - no errors, powers up - errors, doesn't power up or is physically damaged.

If noone notices an item, you can get stuff in the first category at minimum bid (snipe of course).

I've gotten some good Rohde & Swarz/Hameg gear this way.

Hi all. I'm from Auckland New Zealand. Currently retired. An Electronics Technician by trade, who specialised in the Service and Training areas of Consumer Electronic products. My passion is repairing things, fault finding techniques and circuit diagram understanding. I also enjoy designing and building up microprocessor gizmo's both networked or standalone, Computer hardware, Networking, reverse engineering..... oh it would be easy just to go on and on...... Needless to say "I love everything about electronics, a typical nerd" -lol

  I am a student in Grade 9 living in New York. I was born in China and have also lived in Singapore. I am mainly interested in RF and analog, doing many random projects like pulse generators, gain blocks, LNAs, and DIY spectrum analyzers. Have been doing electronics since I was 9, started with 8051s, then to arduino, then arm cortex, then to analog, and now to RF.

  I will never claim that I learnt anything over the years: I still can hardly code, will take years to make something in digital, always have to refer to books for analog, and must cheat using simulators and calculators for RF as my Maths is terrible. However, I still enjoy electronics and love test gear!

  I have been following EEVblog since approximately eevblog #120, and  I really hope that I can learn a lot on the forums and enjoy electronics!

Hi, my Name is Travis Piper and I hail from Michigan in the United States. I'm no "expert" on much but I've had a fair amount of electronics pass through that I've gained experience off. I figured this would be a good place to start on expanding my knowledge. I am a computer Technician doing freelance work. I guess my obsession started when I found out my dad had worked at an electronics store and has a big stash of rare electronics hiding in the basement. I also like to tear things apart that got me into a lot of trouble when I was young. I also like the great outdoors as I was a Boy Scout. You'd be hard pressed to see me sitting in a boring office chair for more then 5 minutes. If you have computer questions I will gladly help as well. If I have questions I will let YOU know too.

my name is Julian and I am studying "computational engineering" (at least thats wikipedias translation of it) and I am in the final phase of writing my diploma thesis (a german specific degree rated between a masters and a bachelors degree on the international credit point scale). The EE part of my university course was very basic so after watching a lot of Daves videos I thought registering here might be a god idea. I love embedded programming and I also like to void warranties (who doesn't?).

Printers are my mainstay (not glamorous but somebody has to do it) but also do TVs, Laptops, Projectors and alike on a daily basis.
I'm no stranger to dumpster diving and can often be found weeping over the smashed chassis of 'surplus' test gear

I'm Ben, I'm a hobbyist that's been tinkering with SMPS most recently and a little bit of valve audio. I've had very little formal training in electronics, but studied physics at uni about 10 years ago so some of the concepts i'm OK with, but I'm sure i'll have lots of numpty questions for the veterans.

I worked in IT after uni, so picked up some software code fudging skills before going off on a tangent and doing the hotel / scuba thing in Asia for a couple of years. 

Well, right now, I'm fortunate enough to have time to do whatever which right now is blowing up capacitors in my shed.

I've been watching Daves blog for a while, and love it.

I'm hoping i can get stuck into some collaborative projects on here.

I guess you could call me a novice at electronics since i've never really done much apart from take stuff apart that's broken (And end up breaking it more) or old stuff that's useful. I am competent in building PC's and repairing them but that's about it.

Hi all, my name is Jason and I consider myself a newbie at electronics though I have been soldering cables and fixing/building small devices for years. I mostly tinker with musical instruments like guitars, stomp boxes, amps, keyboards/synths and rack mount gear. I might be able to help with that stuff especially if it's 70's/80's/90's vintage stuff.

Also in my day job I am a Chief Lighting Technician (Gaffer) in Los Angeles and I know quite a bit about lighting, grip and camera stuff after 12 years in the business. Thanks for the help so far and I will be posting repair questions shortly! Thanks to Dave for the great videos!
