Hello, I am Simon

Im starting to get into electronics after a friend wanted help with some arduino code.  I have mostly developed windows/mobile code and have been in the IT game for 18 years.

Still a newbie but I have heaps of experience pulling apart remote controls toys on boxing days when I was a kid.
Coder and electronics newbie.

Hello folks!

I'm 16 years old electronics student from Croatia, and with school everything glides smoothly.
Can't say i own much knowledge, rather I've be been scratching large area of surface but had no chance to scratch deep enough to satisfy my needs.

I'm a boy with a great appetite and sinkhole that can't get filled.

By now i have had more multimeters  than girlfirends and i have no regrets, planing to get Fluke 87/3 if one guy drops price little bit more. Osciloscope would be lovely...

Other than that mountainbiking is my favourite hobby, I also enjoy football or anything with prefix ball.
All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.
All play and no work makes Jack a mere toy.

Hi,

I found Dave on Youtube three and a half years ago when looking for reviews of the Kindle. His videos were so entertaining I have been watching since!

I made a few basic circuits with my Dad when I was little and have always been a geek for tech but I now want to learn more.

I just bought my first multimeter and will be doing to project based learning soon.

Hi all, my name is Matthew, originally from south east England I have been living and working in Vancouver, Canada since 1994. I am an electronics engineer at a small contract design company, mostly working on projects with some element of radio communication (short-range, low-power things like Bluetooth, ZigBee, other proprietary 2.4GHz sytems, etc.) with plenty of analog, microcontrollers and embedded firmware thrown in. I have been watching Dave's videos for a couple of years now and always find the teardowns and test equipment reviews interesting.

hi josh here... Southern California...just a beginner with interest in integrating electronic technology into cars.  id like to prevent more road accidents, drunk driver casualties like the one that just happened in SXSW. always looking for a way to give back and currently volunteering as a technician.  Im interested in one day getting a start up going... don't want to go the corporate route though... would prefer to meet a group of good guys and run it out of a garage for a while... and build it from the ground up--the old fashioned way.

Hi all.

Matt here.  Just the wrong side of 45. The early part of my career was in electronic production and test.  I got sucked up into telephony, eventually business networks and now spend most of my working day fixing the internet.  My interest in electronics was rekindled after I bumped into an Arduino last year.  I found the EEVBlog, while considering a new scope after the sad demise of my old Scopex 10D.  Needless to say, I ended up spending far more than I originally intended, on a DS2072a.  I am going to need a new multi-meter too.

I have a little IoT sensor/control project on the go, which is at the point I need to step into the messy World of analogue, from my comfort zone in the digital realm.  I will try not to ask daft questions but can not guarantee it ;)

Hi,

Being a long time lurker I've thought that its about time to introduce myself.

I'm Patrik form Germany near the beautiful city of Munich (the one with the beer - Summer is coming ;))

Working in the semiconductor business, my former position was hands on SW/HW Debug (bare metal JTAG till basic RTOS evaluation) including measurements on a daily basis with quite decent tools - covering digital logic till RF. Moving on my work shifted to a more theoretical style (read: Outlook,PowerPoint and spec writing :palm:) so I am rarely in the LAB, thus in order not to loose the connection and satisfy the urge of doing something "real" I had to set up something at home.
So I play around with basic FPGA, µC (Arduino, Beaglebone - open source, open hardware) and more and more analogue stuff - in my free time and just for fun.

Hi. My name's Ian. I'm an engineering student in New York (the state, not the city). Not EE though; it's just a hobby for me. I collect old (and sometimes new) electronics from the recycling drop-off locations on campus.
I refuse to use AD's LTspice or any other "free" software whose license agreement prohibits benchmarking it (which implies it's really bad) or publicly disclosing the existence of the agreement. Fortunately, I haven't agreed to that one, and those terms are public already.

Erik here.  I am a double E here in Utah.  I am fond of PIC and Altium (current job is PCB Design engineer).  I have had experience in analog and digital circuitry, FPGA, ADC/DAC, Atmel, PIC, a few other micros, Linux, Altium, Python, C, a few other languages, along with some networking experience.

I'm not a particular fan of arduino (though I do understand and respect its place in the hobbyist/tinkerer/maker space).  I like coding much closer to the micro (assembly sometimes).

I enjoy long reads through datasheets, and a well-functioning circuit.  I hope to be a contribution to this forum!

Hi. I’m from Germany an my name is Jürgen. It is usually unpronounceable for native English speakers but great fun to hear when they try.

I am the prepress guy in an small company. I came to soldering by trying to build my own Qlocktwo replica a couple of years ago. My equipment consists of a soldering station and a cheap multimeter so far.

Hello! My name is Guido and I'm from a small east European country called Estonia.

I have kinda known which end of the soldering iron to hold since 5 years old or so and owned a multimeter for all my life but only developed a real interest to electronics about 4-5 years ago(am 24 now). Had a few books left on the shelf from my dad and when I really didn't know what to do with my life anymore I started to look deeper into them. So 3 years ago I started working for an industrial electronics manufacturer doing RMA repair and troubleshooting in production. The interview went easy, got a flyback SMPS schematic thrown on the desk in front of me and I told them what it was and how it works. Getting past HR interview was easy too as they really didn't have a lot to choose from. Only worked there for 2 years since there was quite a lot of problems with one rather complicated product and they didn't bother to organize my workload so I just quit. I have been playing around with analog stuff mostly but am quite a bit interested in FPGAs and I might start to focus on logic and FPGA design in the near future.

Quite a long story there... all in all I am more of a 'Jack of all trades' I know a bit about various fields of electronics and other stuff too but I'm not really great at anything. So at the moment I actually tile bathrooms and such and tinker with electronics related stuff at home.

Hello from the last of the streetcar suburbs, about fifteen minutes from Tektronix-Keithley.

I got into electronics back in the early years of school with the Radio Shack spring-terminal kits (a 50-in-1, the Voice Recorder, the four-piece Action Kit, and the AM/shortwave radio) and a science fair project on solar cells.  The only survivor from this era is my old 8-range analog multimeter, which I've hung on to for sentimental reasons (incompatible with proper safety probes).  I'm not precisely sure why I lost interest in it, but I think a little bit of my interest in electronics returned late in primary school and early in high school when I was thinking about becoming an electrician.  I tried my hand at Aerospace Engineering at Ohio State University down in Columbus, but got mired in Calculus II and transferred to John Carroll University, a few minutes away from where my family lives.  I ended up getting a Bachelor's degree in Physics, and that led to me taking electronics courses as a technical elective.  From that point on (and after a very difficult struggle through quantum mechanics), I knew I'd be continuing on into electrical engineering.  And now, I find myself working on my Master's degree at Cleveland State University in Electrical Engineering, with an emphasis on power electronics/systems and now...instrumentation.  Programming was never a strong point for me, so the analog fields seemed somewhat more appealing.  I found EEVblog, started watching it, and...here I am.

I worked as an engineering intern at the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority during the summer of 2013, and would love to return after I take my engineering licensure exams.  Traction power and transit operations have fascinated me since I was little, and I really enjoyed the culture in the engineering department there.  This summer and fall, though, I'm going to be working at Tektronix-Keithley, which is great...but touring the place...oh, I'll start a new thread about that, it's an issue unto itself.

I'm a frequent guest of the Cleveland Makers' Alliance hackerspace at the Shaker LaunchHouse, but dear gods, the place is a mess, and there's no good place to do electronic work (or keep the test equipment) at this point so I'm not ready to start paying dues.  The lack of workspace both in and outside of the house has really limited my ability to start projects.  I have successfully repaired a PAiA Fatman synthesizer that had defective components, but that's about it.

My current test equipment stable includes:
-Rigol DS2072 (hacked to DS2302)
-Keithley 199 System DMM
-HP 3311A Function Generator

I'm planning on acquiring:
-Knight Laboratories ML-2010 portable prototyping station
-The carry bag for the DS2072 so the knobs don't get scraped off.

Other hobbies include:
-Drawing
-Tabletop RPGs
-SCUBA (but I just haven't had the time)

Hello, my name is Scott and I am from Brisbane in Queensland.

I am interested in the area of electronics engineering. I am currently only 14, but I enjoy the things that electronics get involved in. My grandfather was an electrical engineer during world war II and he teaches me terminology about electronics which I enjoy. I also luxuriate in computer programming (mainly PHP) and I am involved in an SAMP server known as UGP, which I program the website.

I recently build an Arduino based GPS tracker, which took a while but it was very fun to build. I hope to talk to people just like me!

Hi, I'm Dave and live in the far north of England (Right on the doorstep of Hadrian's wall). Electronics is a re-discovered hobby of mine. And I mean re-discovered after 40 years. I'm slowly building up knowledge, but class myself as a novice.

Dare to learn
