Hello all!

I'm Jeff, and I love to tinker with all kinds of stuff!  Now I don't have a big background in electronics, but I do know my way around them!  Watching Dave's videos really do help, and I have learned tons from him!  I lurked here for awhile, but now I'm glad I choose to sign up!

Hello again.

Previous account got deleted because I tried to change the mail with an anonymous one  to be less traceable. It seemed like a prudent thing to do considering the shitstorm that happened in my moderately rotten country. Long story cut short - it didn't work and it was hardly of any use.  :-//

So here I am once again.

Missed you folk.

Complete newbie on posting, but I've been a lurker for a while.  Just made a conscious decision to try to participate in the forum, and it's basically like drinking from a firehose.

Anybody have good strategies for keeping up with the forum?

Anyway: EE since '99, currently learning RF the hard way; previously in controls, high-speed digital, and various other areas.

I'm Ben, from SF,California. I know little to nothing about electronics. But since the age of 10, I've been tearing things apart and most of the time putting back together.

I've also always really liked DMM's, as I must have close to 30. I found this site while searching for reviews on LCR meters. I do a far amount of medium voltage, as well as low voltage, as I've worked in car audio for over 41 years, and I make my own crossovers. When my B&K LCR(879) took a crap, I was once again on the hunt for the next meter.

Because of Dave's video reviews(thank you Dave), I've noticed somewhat of a leap in technology in LCR meters over the last 5 years. I bought a Der Ee DE5000 off Ebay. It seems like a really good meter.

I got my first Email account in 1993, and I've noticed the net has gone way down hill over the last 10 years. I've also notice the folks from down under post a lot like the old net users for 15~20 years ago(just a lot less BS).

What I'm saying is, I LIKE the site! :-+ :-+ :-+

Hi!
Long-time EEVBlog fan and Lurker!
Dave's HP-41 teardown drew me out of the woodwork!
I've had a life-long interest interest in electronics, went to school ostensibly for Computer Science, so naturally I'm a cartoonist these days!

I am Charles from New York.  Professionally involved in EM test and measurement, and electromagnetic interference work.  I am here primarily to read test equipment reviews and learn a bit here and there, but may be able to offer meaningful input in a few niche areas where I have specialist knowledge.

Hi I'm Paul, a student from the state of Connecticut, USA. I've have electronics as a hobby for 5 years. I've been dealing mostly with vintage vacuum tube based equipment from the 50's and older, however I've become more interested in modern electronics due to Dave's videos. I am primarily interested in old radios, old tvs, test equipment, and interesting projects, such as tesla coils, amps, music related electronics, and more.

I'm real excited to get become antiquated with the members here.

Hi there, I'm Uwe.

As a German I grew up in Germany and learned a lot about electronics from my father and an uncle. I started off in the 1980s, inspired by a German television program tried to put together my own computer, because I wouldn't get one from my parents... Finally they gave in an the project was shelved (forever).

In the German navy I learned to use oscilloscopes, studied physics, continued with electronics, went to Sweden and finally became a PhD in electronics.

For the last 10+ years I have been doing research in solar cells at Uppsala University, while also teaching electronics and microcontrollers.

My personal electronic interest is mostly in
  • LEDs and displays, everything which lights and blinks
  • vintage displays  :-+ and historical electronics (or is it electronics history?)
  • measurement electronics and electronic measurements
  • AVR microcontrollers

I keep my own small blog at http://www.sciencetronics.com/greenphotons/

Hello everyone!

I'm a programmer/IT guy from ye olde Eastern Block, i.e. Romania, with a healthy interest in electronics and a penchant for taking stuff apart since I was a kid.
My interest was sparked by my father, a maths teacher by trade, who in the old days was building TV antenna amplifiers (that way you could watch uncensored TV from neighboring countries), etching his own circuit boards and fixing all kinds of appliances.

I have a basic set of electronics tools and a good deal of knowledge on the subject accumulated over time, which I direct into small electronics projects and, of course, fixing stuff. My latest successful repair was an iRiver h120 mp3 player which had a busted out LTC3405 voltage regulator - replace a ThinSOT packaged IC with only a basic pen soldering iron and a lot of flux -> yep, it's working.

Hoi, Paul from New Zealand here. A tear-aparter and electronics muck-arounder since I can remember ...trained NZCE electronics and computer technology but working in Software/Hardware testing so satisfying the electronics bug with home projects.
I've been slowly going through the EEVblog videos from the start as well as watching the new releases so I'm slowly closing the time gap. Entertaining and informative if I had to give a 2 word summary. Cheers

Frank from Canada. Just joined today and will spend a lot of time here I hope :).
Electronics was my first serious hobby and I hope to make it a career at some point (disregard my age).
I will likely have to go back to school lol.

Hi, I'm Martin from The Netherlands, I'm 43 years old and have had some elektroniks on school.
I didn't like it at then, but was necessary for my Technical Computer eductation.

Now I like it more and more. And it's almost a hobby for me.
Recently making the move from THC to SMD and like it really.

Dave's great enthusiastic video's are great for infotainment!

Hey all. I'm Dionne and live in Durban South Africa. I have been involved in the electronics industry for a couple of years and specialize in digital systems. My first job was as a site maintenance tech and bench tech for a two way trunking radio company and later moved on to working for one of S.A's cellular networks under contract as a site tech.

Been out of the industry for a couple of years but am back as I have been developing some of my own branded photographic lights here in SA for the local market.

Hope to learn loads from this forum. :-)

Hi. I am a Mechanical Engineer but I've been hooked on electronics since I got my first 300-in-1 electronics kit over 20 years ago. Although I spent several years out of the hobby I'm currently enjoying getting back into electronics thanks mostly to the hackerspace/arduino/DIY movement. I've taken several computer science, circuits, and electronics MOOCs in the last few years and have also learned a lot from Dave and the eevblog.

Welcome EEVBlog community, I'm Marcin from Poland (Silesia, exacly Zabrze- used to be the greatest village in Europe, about 10 miles from Katowice).
Got my BSc deg in mechatronics, working on MSc at the moment :P
Loved all the science stuff since I can remember, but but started working on it and made it my hobby and passion about 5 years ago, not even sure how and why :P Still feel like beginner though.

Love what you're doing here, learned A LOT already and look forward to catch some more of your knowledge.

Good day, my name is Paul and I am living in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Been involved in electronics every since my dad gave me a screw driver as a kid and let me use it, so many things never got back together  :-DD I am currently an electronics technician for the Royal Canadian Navy and do quite a bit of hobby electronics on my free time. I was a CNC machinist and am hoping to pull both skills together to build and program my own CNC machine from scratch.

Been watching the videos for along time now, love them and hope you keep up the awesome work.

Cheers,

Paul

Hi, my name is John and I'm an engineer living in Bristol, UK. I've been messing about with electronics since the 1970s, initially with analog stuff and then with a Compukit UK101 computer kit. I have a fair collection of test equipment: http://www.gifford.co.uk/~coredump/inst.htm and definitely too many oscilloscopes: http://www.gifford.co.uk/~coredump/scope.htm
