Hi,

I have been watching for a while the EEVBLOG videos, excellent work by the way, and thought I register on the forum to share and learn (even though if my first sharing is a bad experience with futurlec ... !).

Hello everyone,

My name is Peter and I have been reading this blog and watching the EEVblog for some time now.

I have been working as a software engineer in industrial automation for some 28 years, and currently work as a technical lead for a couple of software engineers.

Back in the 80's i did get a degree in electronics (high school level) before I switched to industrial IT, and continued to work in that. But a year or so ago I started to watch youtube channels such as Maxxarcade, Mikes's channel and of course Dave's. This got me hooked again.

Since then I have started to get my own home lab together, and am now designing (or trying to) "Yet Another Nixie Clock" based on the Parallax Propeller and a GPS module. My ambition is to add network capability and make it into an NTP server.

I will propably will post some questions on this forum as I proceed.  :D

Finally, I hope that over time I can maybe help someone on this forum if it is in my area of knowledge, and become part of this community.

All the best.
Peter

Hi All,

Finally joined a few days ago. Thought I'd introduce myself.
My name is Tabraze.

I've been an EE for 5 years now and got my first job just before the 2008 stock market crash working in the comms industry on RF and audio designs. I'm currently working at a new company in the temperature control industry.

I cant remember when I saw my first EEVBlog episode but it was the PCB manufacturing episode #127.
I was hooked at "High, welcome to the EEVblog ... " :-+

Anyway,
Just wanted to use this opportunity to say Hi and to thank all the members of this forum and especially Dave Jones for all the good work your doing.
Thank you all.
The Job Interview guide episode probably got me my current Job so I hope I can return the favor by helping forum members with what limited experience I have to offer.

Cheers

Hi, my name is Amir.
I'm a beginner industrial design engineering student.
I have a vast knowledge of computers and I'm really interested in electronics, although I have a small amount of knowledge "electronics" (previous liberal-arts and architecture student lol).

I found this forum through a video regarding the Nvidia GPU hacks, but now I found out that this forum is quite awesome for DIY, etc

Cheers!

btw, does this forum have a Youtube-channel?

Hello everyone,

I'm Yves and work as a freelance software engineer currently doing projects for an international (origin: Japan) electronics company which has an R&D department in Belgium and I'm obviously from Belgium.

Being a computer programmer at the base, I'm also interested in the electronics side of our job. I'm not afraid to replace a blown cap, but I'm by no means an EE-expert at all, but I'm learning  8). I'm also currently preparing to "fix" an airbag controller from a Peugeot 1007 that fired an airbag after a small sideways collision. It has an 68HC12BE32 cpu in it with now the self-disable bit set. Sadly not that much stuff to find on the hc12 cpu but found tons of other knowledge on this forum and Dave's videos have become a weekly item to watch out for !

Many thanks for this great forum.

Yves

Hello, I work as a doctor but always held interest in electronics, hold my amateur radio licence VK5RC, esp interested in construction, esp microwave (>1GHz), currently building a set up to do EME (bounce radio off moon) on 1.2GHz, will prob take 12-18 months by the time I design, build test various components, power supply, power amplifier (200W), low noise pre-amp, dish mounts, RF safety calculations, dish movement actuators and control system. |O
Dave does a great job re EEV, Thanks again! :-+

Hello from sunny Florida.  I actually grew up in Texas, where my father owned a TV repair shop where I cut my teeth for many years repairing TV's (I was around for the whole vacuum tube to solid state transition).  I am a mechanical engineer by degree.  Twenty-two years ago, my brother and I started our own company manufacturing different products for niche markets.  We have products in the Industrial Automation, Medical Equipment, and Renewable Energy markets.  We are a very vertically integrated company, and have extensive in-house design and manufacturing capabilities.  I'll try to post some pics of our facility at some point.

Although we have many engineers working for us, I am the one and only electrical engineer at our company, and as such have to wear many hats around here (Electrical and Mechanical Design, IT, repairing in-house equipment, etc).  My main electronic design experience is in embedded control system, motion control, and power systems.

I have designed hundreds of different circuit boards over the last 20 years; I have used Eagle for PCB design and layout since it was a DOS version!

So how does this relate to this blog?  Well, I have been an electronics enthusiast since my days in the TV shop.  I found Dave's Videos on youtube a couple of years ago.  I think I have watched almost all of them, some multiple times;D.  Keep up the good work Dave!

Anyway, I figured it was finally time to register and hopefully contribute my $0.02 once in a while.

Cheers

Hello all!

I'm Ricardo from Portugal, i know eevblog for a few years, i even helped it to be known in the high school i'm in (ESTG).
Sadly i have only been able until now to watch around 30 videos, but one of these days i will do them whole, with an annotation notebook to ciment some very good tips!

Decided to finally join the forums, for some questions as usual!

Best regards

As a preteen I played with electronics in the early 60's, wrote my first 'hello world' in ALGOL in 1966-67, trained as an Architect, built my first microcomputer from an imported Zilog Z80 in 1974, practiced as an Architect, latterly using various CAD progammes, worked as a desktop/network engineer from 1993 until 2009, then being redundant looked after my father until his death. Currently setting up a new mini-lab in my limited available space to maintain the 'little grey cells'.

Hi! I'm Nick. I just opened up my town's first full-service digital shop. I'm MCSE, ACMT, Network+, Security+ and A+ certified, and have been a professional low-voltage technician for about three years, but a hobbyist since I was five. I'm into changing the world, being happy with others, and the Burning Man arts festival. I'm still getting the ropes together as far as running a business is concerned, but I'm in New Mexico, and people are very understanding and forgiving. Been turning out great work since opening at the beginning of the month, but it can always be better. S'why I'm here!

Anyways, here's the logo I came up with for my business, a 16-bit Zia.

I should have some stickers to give away in another week or two!

I'm excited to be here, and am open! Feel free to drop me a line on here or at my e-mail: nick@binarycircuits.com

Hello everyone. My name is Alan.

I had worked as a Marketing Executive in a Hong Kong based Electronic Manufacturing Services company for more than 10 years. My company formed a sub company JACO (HK) since 2012 for PCB prototyping services, I have been deputed to promote this service for SME, electronic designers & electronic engineers all over the world.

As per our slogan “Better services . Reasonable price”, JACO will provide better service to our clients, and our clients required to pay reasonable price only. Our strengths include -

1. Reasonable price for 1-6 Layers PCB package
3. PCB package charged by the PCB Dimension
3. Plenty of Options - Board thickness, Surface Finish, Copper Thickness, Soldermask color and etc...

We will start a trial promotion at EEVblog shortly, and let some members to order their own PCB for free. :D They are required to write a report to review our services and quality afterwards. We hope this promotion will suit your needs.

Best wishes,
Alan

Hi there,

I got stuck in bed due to a broken ankle joint and started watching the eevblog - episodes. I am a mechatronics engineer and got to electronics when I was younger by messing around with vintage hifi-gear. This is still a hobby of mine and I guess will always be. Vinyl will never die!  ::)
When I am not hanging out in bed I am up to rockclimbing and any kind of outside activities.
Well, enough said, let's see what I can learn here. Feel free to talk to me, I always like conversation.

Peace,
Jan from Germany.

Hi Guys,

i have been involved with radio modification and reverse engineering for a few years and decided to sign up here in the forum.
I find most of the videos that dave uploads to be informative and a wealth of information and ideas seem to be forthcoming from them.

I live in Weymouth, England (not exactly sunny right now) and have been learning quite a bit from EEVblog so thanks very much.

Hi everyone,

I'm Sam hailing from Glasgow, Scotland (although originally from Southern England) - I'm a train driver but originally had an IT support background until deciding to change my career path.

As an absolute novice I'm just reading through the Dummies Guide to Electronics while waiting on a few starter kits to arrive and experiment with. Have been watching Dave's YouTube channel for a couple of months now.

Looking forward to grasping the basics failing (I imagine lots!) and also building my own power supply.

Sam

Greetings from the cold Swiss alps area.

So, I am a long time viewer, first time poster. I started watching Dave's video when I needed a bit of training for developing a PCB to hook a CMOS sensor on an FPGA board. I thelped a lot :o Thanks Dave !

I am currently working towards my PhD in electrical engineering, but I consider more of a hybrid between software and a electrical engineer, with application in bio-medical applications.

Looking forward sharing thing with you guys on the Forum, and maybe present a couple of idea/side project of my own ;)

Greetings to the Forum!

I've been following the EEVBlog YouTube channel now for about a year, and thought it was time to join in the fun on the Forum.

I have a BS in Electrical Engineering Technology, and 3 AS in Computer/Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology.  I have previously taught in both the Technology and Trades departments at a community college in Charlotte, NC (USA).  I have always enjoyed electronics as a hobby, and made my living doing Embedded Design Consulting for a couple of years following college.  During my college days, I entered in and took first place in one of Motorola's Student Design Contests, along with a fellow student.

These days I work mostly in the mechanical world working as head mechanic, overseeing the repair and upkeep of 24 mechanical pinsetters in the local bowling center.  However, I still keep active in the electrical world, working on various embedded processors, and electronics in general.

So well met EEVBlog Forum members!  Hope to be around some as my schedule allows.

Hi,
I am Richard and was an EE student from Polytechnic University in Puerto Rico with some electronics experience prior to starting university.
I'm generally interested in all things electronic (including computers , programming, circuits, etc.) By thing of life could not finish my degree and became a Technician in the automotive industry. Of course the electronics has helped and have advantage over others. And has since become my hobby. But deep inside want to complete my degree.
I'm a typical guy who has lot of project ideas and designs started but rarely gets anything finished or just takes my time.
Found Dave's blog almost a year ago looking for information on motherboard PCB layers and smd soldering tutorial ever since been hooked to the way he gives information.

Hi,

I'm Franck, I'm French (so, please, do not blame me for my imperfect English) and I am currently studying software development (mostly C/C++ and PHP/JavaScript) but I have a passion for electronics and DIY in general almost since birth :D

I discovered the Dave's youtube channel since a few days and I'm at the video #232, almost the half :P very good quality content, congrats ;)
