« on: May 08, 2010, 03:28:41 pm »
Well I plan to make one interesting Poll ,  with the brands of Digital multimeter's that you favor most.

But In order to do that , I need from you to add Brands in the list of the contesters   :)

I will add the ones that I am aware of , and you will suggest with your messages the ones that I am not aware of .

I will keep editing this first page , by adding the new ones , and when the list will grow enough,
I will use those brands in the Poll .

The list in the Poll will be with alphabetic order , fair and honest.

No idea.
But I don't think you are allowed to chose more than one options which kinda makes it annoying.

Dave.

AFAIR  UNI-T is not from "fake China" Taiwan (R.O.C.) It is P.R.C. Head quarter is in China, HongKong and manufacturing main is in mainland China, Guangdong.

I do not know exactly how are just multimeters but one very good guality "high-end" equipments are made also by Rohde&Schwarz (Germany)
EV of course. Cars with smoke exhaust pipes - go to museum. In Finland quite all electric power is made using nuclear, wind, solar and water.

Wises must compel the mad barbarians to stop their crimes against humanity. Where have the (strong)wises gone?

"fake China" Taiwan (R.O.C.)

I love debates ..  ;D  But I will not get in depth .

And the Greeks calls as Fake Macedonia .. the Former south Yugoslavians , who had invent a new name for them , in the last 10 years or so..

So , about the ROC & PRC ...
As consumer I had make the opinion , based on the quality of the products that comes in to the Greek borders,   that   ROC was an reliable sorce of goods, at list in the past two decades .
Most or all PRC products this days , haves so bad reputation, that in comparison with the old ROC ,
they look like trash .

Electric toys for small children , they crack and stop working in a day ..
Electric lightweight power tools , they get damaged easily , and die from premature failures.
An common bicycle , has low quality of metal , they bend or get rusty in just few months.
Motorcycles ...  I do not even like to talk about it.

And how In earth , you can be called as an PROUD Republic of China , with all this crap as exported goods ?

Greece exports oranges , and we inspect them " one by one " , so to be perfect,
so the buyer to enjoy the " merchandise "  and be happy, and buy again..

Today I got a new UNIT-T 15C , I do not care who had build it, but I am confident that it will be good enough, UNIT-T reserves to be trusted even today, I can not speak for the tomorrow.
Its not here yet.

Yes, but quality question is not so simple. I can also tell that it is quality of these peoples who go to China and buy things for western countries "supermarkets". I have sometimes think that they have make all they things with huge amount of chinese sellers wine. If these buy peoples go and find all cheapest garbages... yes chinese sellers and factories do these and they sell these to stupid western byuers who look only cheap price. (yes in real this question is so black and white in real... but they really can do bad and cheap quality... but they can also do good quality.)

I have live some time in China and I have some kind of knowledge about this quality question also...

Chinese sellers are very clever... they can sell all garbages to foreign countries who look only cheapest price and nothing else. Do you know how much they laugh behind after western buying peoples have give moneys and get they things...
But mirror have also its back side...

And you can go to china and find also good quality. You just get what you pay..
But many westerns do not want buy example Rigol 6000 oscilloscope... becouse it is not cheap (DS6104 more than USD 20000 inside China)

My forecast is that quality and prices are going up... they make just same as japanese around year -70 or so.
I remember well this time. Nobody want buy these japanese cheap garbages... but after some years... they do some well designed reasonable quality things. Today they need call all they made cars back to service...

Do you know how much china have collect money with these "garbages"...  go and look, maybe after visit in some city like Shanghai or Guangzhou or Shenzhen or other... after you arrive back from there you may feel that you are coming back to some museum. Is it problem to these who sell or these stupids who buy. Who buy these most bad garbage. I think buyers quality is more bad than any other factor.

But now I want stop this small debate... I only want correct this small (TW) ;)

Good points and wrong points.

The principal that the West market uses so far , is to produce mostly " honest products".
The "smart ones" do not have a chance to stay alive, with such high competition.
Building face in Europe with honest products its an well respected target.

I have an Chinese friend too, I know lots about him, and the culture of China are an well respected one.

But this days the market of China its an chaos ,  if one country with a Billion of people ,
expects  to remain or become famous due Rigol  or  UNIT-T  or very few other bright examples.
Then its not working .. and something must change.

About the hypocritical laughs , Yes I know about them , thats why I give hell due the eBay feedback to all those smart asses .

My problem, and I believe that we all have it , its that it is very hard to discriminate ( find out ) the quality of an product any more ...

And believe me I know the cure ...  all that we need are one International office with lawyers ,
who will start to do lawsuits in behalf of the Europeans consumers , in the court of law at Hong kong.
All the laughs , they will stop in a night.

And its not a debate @rf-loop , I do appreciate your honesty.  :)

Yes, this is real problem. ;)

Before years I have trust Agilent...oh no (wrong) but... Hewlett-Packard, Rohde&Schwarz, Tektronix, Rockwell-Collins, Racall, and some others..

But, in future, maybe I start trust also some Chinese products. (yes I have fly in Chinese made (no name flying "machine"... and I did not afraid... but in Tupolew...I can not, I afraid... but there is my life. Also I afraid to take noname Chinese (cheap) equipment to my hand and go to higher voltage powerlines... but Chinese made telescop (example Meade... I can see more than Chinese moon ;)
...stop...

Personally I do not bet for a clean winner ,  there is about 50 brands on the table , some alive some not.
The  results are not going to demonstrate the current " leader " in marketing.

But you are justified, because you do not know the question of the Poll .  :)

The question would be :
With what brand of DMM , you are satisfied at the last 10 Years ...

Its a product satisfaction survey.

The brand + DMM performance + reliability + warranty rules + cost of spare parts + calibration cost ... will influence the results.

I do not have a personal interest or gain , to do such Polls ..
I just like to see ,  what is the status of the brands today in general, from the view of the consumer.

The brand who respects the wallet of the consumer, takes all the credit  ;)
