Need a safe way to root my Samsung phone, please help...
« on: June 06, 2019, 02:36:45 pm »
Hi people...
I have a Samsung A5 running Android 7.1, and I want to root it. The problem is I need to find a reliable way to do it, such as a open source App or instructions for doing that manually.
Because rooting is a high risk operation, if I just grab some random tool, maybe I'll get serious malwares that is nearly impossible to clear, or other even worse things.
If anyone can help, thank you a lot!

If you have never rooted a phone or installed custom rom, there is a learning curve and you may brick your phone.

For root, I use magisk (open source)

https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445

For custom rom on A5, it depends on your version.

https://forum.xda-developers.com/samsung-a-series

Spend a few hours reading through xda or watch vidoes on how to install TWRP, magisk and custom rom.

What retiredcaps said is true. Though firstly you need to know 'why' you want to 'root' it.
I 'rooted' all 'iPhones' in the past when I used them, to gain specific features like using them
to port another phones data-usage through them. I've found Android to be less of an issue !!
Some kids just want to create/use all sorts of fancy customized UI interfaces!!, where others
want to be able to install non-Google-Play apps. Now, I don't bother 'rooting' Android, and I
can install/backup any apps I want. Just not sure that I should explain that here...
Diagonal of 1x1 square = Root-2. Ok.
Diagonal of 1x1x1 cube = Root-3 !!!  Beautiful !!

where others want to be able to install non-Google-Play apps.
Don't need root for that. I would say that out of all the apps that need root, Adaway would be the one "normal" users can really take advantage of.

I have a Samsung J5 given to me and there is one and it is that Samba Network File Share that needs rooting.

It states "Disabled - Not Running" when it is working and to configure it the left and right button need to be pressed and at the same time whilst holding them down another finger to select when the menu appears.

I have a robocopy script to upload any new photos, videos and recordings automatically.
I can directly get to other things when when it is joined up.

I don't want to use some freemium or paid for "app" when this is much more simplier.

You may see a message after loading the bootloader at startup.
Set Warranty Bit: Kernel

Another thing is a tool to set the screen from 720x1280 to 1080x1920 at 320dpi and now it looks less bloated by connecting up to the usb port.

This will probably be locked/deleted, (and I get it!), but then again what's the difference to someone
posting/replying about 'rooting' sites and for new O.S.'s, that let you do what you want ???
(Although this has nothing to do with 'rooting')

For a start, (sort of like 'iTunes' software for Apple), the BEST BY FAR PC, (Mac??) software for your
Android devices is 'Wondershare'. If you have a cracked version of that, then good for you, but I am
'not' going to help anyone, in that regard. Except to say that while using it.............

Download anything you want from Google-Play. No matter the cost. Back it up using Wondershare.
Now you have something like 20/30/40 mins? to decide that, "Oohh, that's not what I wanted", and
select from within Google-Play to Delete & Refund !!  Then manually re-install from Wondershare.

If it's something I really want though, And it costs say $1.99 or $3.99, then I DO, regularly buy it !
But if they are charging say $30 - $100 etc, and want to 'play' with it for fun, for no commercial
interest, then I will just 'play' with it !

If you are referring to links to cracks to activate paid for things well I know there will be trouble.

I don't use it for that just opensource things I prefer. I just use an old free tool that was released sometime ago that I can't use anymore unless to root it so I get things directly such a voice recording fulltime from when I am out, filming and taking pictures.

In regards to the phone's bootloader, it is out of warranty anyway and I am not using it to get things that I haven't paid for.

I have a few customers who had problems with advertising intermittently appearing in places it shouldn't like the home screen and it turned out to be one of the games or facebook app things (possibly fake) that was uninstalled along with many others.

I wouldn't use it for 2 step verification, going in the app store and install to try them without researching first and in fact it is not signed in, updating is off and for the two years I have had it no problems.

There are those emulators such as Bluestack where I can experiment on what I do not trust and monitor the traffic that way.
