quantum 6000z mobility power chair
« on: February 25, 2018, 06:14:41 pm »
I was at a local pawnshop type place, and they had a power chair for $50, marked as is. turns out they had lost the accessories for it.. aka charger. its quite likely very hackable. as it uses a can bus to talk to the various parts and controllers. as of right now, the batteries were shot, so those are ordered. and needed a charger, also ordered.. It might make a interesting platform for robotics or other uses.. and if all else fails. the parts are worth some money.
anyone able to find any hacking info? I did find some via google. searching for info on the qlogic 2 controll joystick.

Sounds like it could be a fun project.  Maybe you can do a Tesla motor swap.  >:D

so anyway, batteries are here, and charged and hooked up, powered it up and the tilt motors and reclining motors do work, when I try and drive it it reports a error 107 charger inhibit error.. not sure what that means. and the web wasnt super helpfull in explaining it. might have to wait for the chair's charger to arrive before I worry about that error..

but its promising..

lets see, update, had it moving. but it doesnt like being tilted.. so I'm now waiting for the programmer so I can set it up to use just one joystick and the main controller only. requries a can buss adaptor and a funky xlr plug to connect to the programming interface. I've learned a lot about the chair. and I can post images of the board inside the main joystick. has a arm, flash chip and a ram chip. so it might be running a os of some sort. want to take images of the insides of the other modules.

well got the interface, and connected it up, the inhibit setting was set active high instead of active low, so now its working and driving! now to change the settings so its not laggy or move like a drunken fish, soo many settings!
