We had a light emitting audio amplifier IC that glowed bright red for about 5 minutes.
There was also video but i can't remember where it is.
But fret not, for the IC is still in my parts drawer, as it can be connected to 12V to glow again. What? you think it burned out? Hah!

Do they make RoHS compliant ones?

No, you see lead is fine for items that are used for a fraction of a second, and gets littered all over the place, and billions of it are made per year.
But if you place milligrams of it into electronics that is used for decades, collected and hopefully recycled, then the polar bears die.
