Purchasing via MicrochipDIRECT
« on: May 04, 2011, 01:50:30 pm »
Hi,
I need to buy some Microchip products and was wondering whether anyone here has any experience dealing with MicrochipDIRECT ?

Having read comments regarding TI's estore (both good and bad), how does MicrochipDIRECT compare ? Or should I just buy from Element 15/RS/Digikey ?

BTW, I am in Australia.

Thanks, tjw.

They're fine but be sure to check the shipping amount.
They will also program, mark & re-reel parts very cheaply

They're fine.  I've only made a few purchases, but they were delivered quickly.  I wasn't worried about pricing and delivery costs - I needed a compiler and emulator quickly to handle a fast project...

Most software products can be purchased for immediate download.

They're pricing and shipping speed is pretty good. Usually only takes 2-3 days to your door. Shipping cost is $17 though regardless of how small your order is.

They're good, and if you create your account with an .edu email you'll get an automatic 25% discount on all dev tools and software.  That comes in really handy when you're buying the more expensive items.

"Emulator" as in MPLAB real ICE.  That had to come FedEx.
