Google Worspace / free Gmail ending???? HELP

I have a couple of websites with email addresses ending with my domain, not gmail.com  that started out as regular Gmail and them morphed into Google Workspace (I only use the Gmail aspect and have no need for all the other clutter).  I'm mostly retired at this stage doing very little actual business but need to keep the company alive for a few more years to get the assets out in a tax efficient manner. I want to continue using the same email addresses I have been using for years.

Google keeps sending me emails, stating that I need to start paying a monthly subscription for Google Workspace starting next month. I avoid monthly subscriptions like the plague.

Can I somehow revert back to regular free Gmail if so how does someone go about that?

+ It turns out that my website host offers free email (< 1GB), so I'm migrating to free.

+ When I was in Gmail, the memory usage was showing something like 16GB used, after archiving locally and then deleting most old email, it was still showing ~5GB. It was not obvious what was consuming so much space. I had also deleted a bunch of temporary files on Google Drive. What I did not do was empty the trash bin on Google drive, after doing that, the memory usage shown in Gmail went from 5GB to 0.2GB.

+ Workspace fees from google range from $8-$23/month, I will use the saved $100-$300 a year for something shiny and new in the tool box every year;-)

You have to pay if you want them to supply email for your domain. Nothing is free - monthly subscriptions (or longer..) are how you pay for services like domain registration, web hosting, and email..

As I understand it, free gmail only provides "@gmail.com" addresses. If you wish to have your own domain in the email address you have to pay for that. It is a normal situation with any service provider. You were fortunate to get this service for free in the past.

One option may be to set up redirects on your domains (usually free with your domain registration) to the gmail address

Yes, either you pay google or you pay some other company for email hosting. Google is $6/month, its not exactly a huge expense for a business.

It's a small expense indeed for a business. Although I have registered a domain name @Gandi which cost me about $16/year with the options I chose and you get 3 free email accounts with your domain name with that. That's less than $1.5/month, domain name included. (Now additional mail accounts are an additional cost but if you're a lone company owner you don't need more than the free ones, especially since the number of aliases is unlimited.)
