Laptop Screens. A few interesting Notes!!
« on: April 03, 2019, 12:27:14 pm »
I've changed countless screens for people. (VERY easy job!). I thought I would point out something
to assist with ordering, & prices...   Here's an example from this week, for a Toshiba Satellite Pro L50-A.
To order a screen on say Ebay, you 'normally' at least need the LAPTOP 'Part/Model-No.' too, which in
this case, was a 'PSKK7A-002002'.  Now, that found results, and the cheapest in the listing was $100,
from Interstate, (I live in Australia), including postage, and a ($4) discount for me, as a past user.  ;D

However!! Searching in THAT way, (via specification of a particular Brand/Model of Laptop), LIMITS the
results to certain Vendors that have 'advertised' that way, which includes THEIR markup from suppliers.

Instead, FIRST pull the screen apart... (you are going to have to anyway!!  :) ), and note down the
actual SCREEN part-number from who ever made/supplied it, and search for THAT alone !
In the 'above' case, it's a  'NT156WHM-N10' Screen. Searches on THAT, revealed these 2 among many...
$77 from Victoria Australia. Plus $19.25 postage. (Even though I'm in Aust.), and...
$67 from China. Free Postage !  (Still only 1 to 2 weeks delivery).
Much better way to search.  ;D

Note-2...
We all (?) have Laptops that are stuffed/beyond repair, but this time the SCREENS are Ok !!!
Try re-purposing them!, as a secondary screen for your Laptop or PC. Often they are hi-res
wide screens, at least 1080p, and can be utilized for next to nothing  8)
All it needs is a 'Control Board' for example, specifically made for the screen, for $20-$30...
https://www.ebay.com/itm/HDMI-VGA-DVI-LCD-Control-Board-For-LP156WF4-SLB1-LP156WF4-SLBA-1920x1080-Screen/273701366278?hash=item3fb9df6a06:g:JYMAAOSwFoNcSsa0&frcectupt=true
They include anything up to HDMI for their input.

Here's an old Youtube link, for something like this!!!  Have fun...

Diagonal of 1x1 square = Root-2. Ok.
Diagonal of 1x1x1 cube = Root-3 !!!  Beautiful !!
