Can a non company win?  Last time they had a way of excluding those that entered but did not have a real company.  I do not remember how they did this but many agreed that you had to have a real registered company to win.

Here are the new terms:  (I do not have the old terms to figure this out)  -  thanks

I think individuals who are not connected with a company could not win in previous contests.  It was in the fine print somewhere (I think)  I remember I was pissed at the time because I kept entering not knowing I was disqualified.

There were several not company connected winners at last years 'scope month', did you miss the big "who has to pay the taxes" discussion here on the forums? The terms look pretty similar to last years, so yes, I think every citizen of one of the listed countries is eligible. Hurry up and enter, it may be the last chance before Trumpistan declares trade war on the rest of the world  :-DD

I was disappointed when they ran the Cyber Week one since the T&C made it clear that only those with a registered company could win. Please note that my disappointment does not stem from a sense of entitlement, it was because of Scope Month being fun to participate in and watch every day, and because these contests are probably my only chance of ever owning such a high-end scope apart from buying one used in about 20 years time. I will cross the tax bridge somehow if and when that time comes.

I believe I've read the relevant parts of the T&C and would think that the company clause should be listed in the Promotion Description/Eligibility section. Since this isn't mentioned this time, I believe that individuals are eligible and as mentioned by continuo, the debacle around a few winners last years points to this being the case.

Daniel from Keysight will probably clear this up.

Now I want to know where David is in March, my guess is he will not tell us ha ha ha

Yes, you can submit one entry prior to scope month's commencement. Perhaps they're using that to see how much awareness they're getting during the period leading up to the launch.

What's up with that?

I cannot point you to the specific reasons, but logic would indicate that those states have their own specific requirements for promotions of this type - and that those requirements are just too onerous for Keysight.

I'm only guessing if this is applicable in the USA, but I have heard of some requirements (somewhere in the world) where the promoter has to put up a cash bond equivalent to the total prize value.  If something like that was the case, I can't see Keysight coughing up $318,655 for each jurisdiction that would have such a requirement.

... and that's only one of several things I can think of.

It is said the whole purpose of these hurdles is to 'protect' the participants ... and the state.

Depends on the company, dbrand seems to handle giveaways pretty well.
But yeah shipping outside the US tends to cost a lot, whereas by comparison China can sell and ship junk to me for just 99 cents or less yet somehow manage to still make a profit off that.

Scope Month 2017 – Oscilloscope Sweepstakes Rules

1. Sponsor. This promotion ..........  etc.

Ironically, your post of Nov 21, 2016 helpfully answered this question for me last year. Check your history. :)

Last year's rules had the clause "Entrants are restricted to companies with a valid business address. No residential addresses are eligible."

Since there can be tons of rules - is this clause in this year's contest?
