Is this a scam site?

Or a web dev filling blank space with AI?

https://www.alliedcomponents.com

Looks pukka initially but dig down and...

The maximum voltage across a resistor is the amount of voltage it can safely withstand without damage. The maximum voltage rating of a resistor is determined by its power rating and the ambient temperature of the environment in which it operates. Generally, the maximum working voltage is 1.5 times the resistor’s power rating. For example, if a resistor has a power rating of 2 watts, the maximum working voltage should be 3 volts. It is also important to note that the maximum working voltage of a resistor is not the same as its breakdown voltage. The breakdown voltage is the voltage at which the resistor fails due to excessive current flow. The maximum working voltage is the voltage at which the resistor can safely operate without damage.

Looks like your standard US front company for East Asian manufacturers. Nothing particularly unusual tbf. Blog posts about a too basic stuffs are just extra fluff there and you can practically ignore them. It's part of their SEO or something.

Oh, haven't stumbled across one before, that I'm aware of. Maybe Farington knows about them!  >:D
Even so, you'd think a human eye would pass over them before they illustrate to world+dog that they know nothing about their business.

Beats me how they can let their website host such blatant cobblers.

Gives me a 404.
Either was a temporary glitch on digikey side or something wrong on your side. Works fine for me.

Works now but only if I use the US site. Earlier, when I use the UK site it couldn't find them in its list of suppliers, so perhaps it's a country thing.

Edit: went to get a listing of the suppliers from each site, and now that link gives a 404, presumably because I have the UK site open in another tab. Nevertheless I took a screeny of the appropriate part of their A-Z.
