Most electronics shops in Istanbul are clustered in Karaköy district which is right in the middle of the tourist area, right at the foot of the Galata bridge.

Consists of 4 buildings connected in a labyrinth like fashion with the weirdest entrances imaginable. Hard to spot from the main street. 20+ shops inside, mainly discreet components and semiconductors. Caters mostly to students and amateurs. Don't forget to check the upper floors, the specialist guys are up there.

Right across the street from the previous place. 10+ shops inside. Used to be the go to place for test and measurement equipment, not any more though. These days they cater to the light and sound repair biz.

Short walk from the previous two. Used to be the radio and ham center of Istanbul. Now just a couple of dusty shops an a few offices doing project work. Only if you got time to kill.

Also this place on the Asian side. Mostly computer stuff but some electronics too. Worth a look if you are already in Asia.

Some notes:
- Beware of the fake components! Know how to identify what you are buying.
- Everything is in stock (not)!  If the guy you are buying from does not have a particular part in stock he will just buy from the next shop, apply extra 50% profit and sell it to you. Be careful.
- Use cash, the local variety. There are couple of shops I would trust with my credit card, the rest I won't.
- Do not drive in the old city, there is nowhere to park! Use public transport or better yet walk, there is a lot to see anyway.
