Looks okay to me... and yes I have seen the older logo. At least it looks better than BT's and even Windows'...

Really? It looks it's trying to me ultra minimalist futuristic or some bs. The old logo looked perfect as is. Why change it?

I can see your point... same for many other logo changes in general. But can just the name of a company in a fancy font "count" as a logo though? Personally, I don't think so :-//

Why change it?

Well, the person responsible had to do something to justify the six or seven digit salary.

So you think I'm joking. Wanna bet?

That is what I respect about General Electric and Ford. They have kept their logo intact and thus their corporate identity through generations. Not attempting to conform to the latest fad.

I am sure there are other European and Japanese companies in the same league, although at this time I can only think about is Rolls-Royce and Yamaha respectively. Mercedes-Benz is only kind of respected its old logo, but at least they have kept the tri-star.

Yamaha has actually tweaked its logo numerous times after settling on the tuning fork and logotype. Before that it changed a lot.

Old logo absolutely reeks of mid 2000's and looks outdated.
At least it does to me.

Tooki;
Thanks for your corrections on the Yamaha logo.

So… that leaves only General Electric and Ford?

I do like the old logo better, though I don't really care much. What does annoy me is that they actually wasted resources changing it. I simply cannot see how a new logo will result in any additional profit, their customers are engineers, we generally don't give a crap about such things.

Extra $$$$$ to the salary if you also design the company's Mission Statement.

So did you guys get used to it yet or not?

I personally think the old logo was a bit of a mess, the new one is leaner and, having just one color, is also cheaper to print on various media. The font used looks a bit like one of those fancy modern fonts of the 80's. So to be fair, they have managed to do something new while keeping an air of nostalgia.
Not that I care a lot, but here's my latest thought.

Both of them have changed their logos slightly too.

As ~75 posts and two threads show   ;D

What does annoy me is that they actually wasted resources changing it.
Because you don't care.
Though DK is targeting a mostly uncaring community, it still might be beneficial to present itself with a more modern look.
