Sharing Parts
« on: April 05, 2015, 07:20:05 pm »
I have just set up a domain name : Design.Parts which I intend to use for allowing electronic designers to upload parts, models and designs for sharing.
Initially it will be for AutoTRAX parts most likely created with the non-commercial version that is free. I could extend it so it works for other EDA programs.
It Will take me a few weeks to get it fully up and running but I would like your input and ideas as I develop it.

There is already 3DContentCentral from SolidWorks.  You will have tough competition with an already established website that imports models in many formats.

That's true.
But the aim is for electronic parts complete with symbols and footprints as well as sub-design. DEX already does this well so I was thinking of extending the community spirit. Initially I was only planning on DEX models and designs, but Eagle parts and design are easy as DEX already reads them.

There is no reason not to also use 3DContentCentral central. The more the merrier.
