High Voltage Linear Regulator

I am looking for this particular part number VB408 TO-220 package
but the part is obsolete, I couldn't finde one selling here in the US
Does anybody know what is a good substitute for this one
please advice.

http://www.supertex.com/pdf/datasheets/LR8.pdf Is a posibility, depends on the max current you are drawing and the package.

I'm not sure  how much is the exact current drawing
the part is defective, unable to make measurement.

I will try to check the specs on LR8

It is used on a LINN preamp power supply  :)

sounds like 1 amp will be all you need to supply, do you know the Vin and Vout ?

I have to look on the schematics to see if there are any voltages mentioned
usually if the power supply failed we replace it with a new one.
but since the whole supply is so expensive then component level is the other options.
