Heating problem

In my project I need to transfer some heat ( about 50°C) from a plain( straight) metal heating element ( approximately 100mm x 200mm of size) to a glass of a similar size. The problem is that  the glass need not be precisely straight and the heat is NOT  transfered evenly.  Is there any material (being  between the heating element and the glass)  that   flattens the unevenness( between the heat element and the glass) so that the heat is transfered evenly?

Yes - you can get squishy silicone based heat transfer material. SIL-pad is a trademark for one make.
It's not that cheap, but does work well, and comes in a wide range of thicknesses and forms, depending on what you need.

http://uk.farnell.com/bergquist/d-far-0045/gap-pad-vo-160-4-x4-sheet/dp/936730?Ntt=936730 is what I use for a similar job, but I'd hope you could get away with less thickness (and less cost...)

Did you ever consider using thermal grease between the glass and the metal part?
or is the metal part much smaller then the glass?

try Sekisui 5760 thermal adhesive tape or a thermal pad
