Yes. The scope had been very hard to move the trigger level (only moved up and very jerky). Then later it quit moving at all. Replacing the encoder got it moving up again. Replacing a diode under the encoder got it moving perfect again. The only downside is the new encoder has detents.
HOWEVER, I must applaud Rigol here. I wrote asking them what kind of encoder it was -- explained that the scope worked well enough I didn't want to send it in for service and I had already opened it up and broke the seal. They verified I had bought from a US distributor (I live in the US) and just sent me a new UI board. Naturally, it arrived 2 days after I fixed the scope. I haven't decided if I'm going to open the thing back up and replace the board or just hang on to it for now since I am actually in the middle of using the scope for something. But very nice service from Rigol.
