As the for author ... I enjoyed "Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom" when it came out, but he's wrong about practically everything in the real world. Other than privacy stuff, where he sometimes, but not always, has a point.

Thanks, I had no idea it was paywalled and no idea why I have access to it.

I don't know that I'd agree with the authors views on everything but I agree with a lot of what he's written here.

I'm guessing.  But sometimes such websites, allow a certain number of 'free' accesses/reads of articles.  E.g. 2.
Then once you exceed that limit, it nags and nags you until you either pay for a subscription, register for free (if they let you), or give up on reading the article(s).

Fair enough.  But if I read a thread, I expect it to have details about it (the thread), already in it.  Not need to have to buy a subscription, just to find out what exactly a thread is about.
