Model Trains -> Electronics
« on: August 07, 2016, 02:07:36 pm »
As a boy I learned a bit about basic electricity from working on my Lionel model train: series/parallel circuits, shorts, debugging, and the like.  Having gotten back into trains last year because of my 3YO son, this is now leading me as an adult to learning more about proper electronics.  I’m curious if others have followed a similar path or have an interest in both hobbies.

My interest in EE work came from computing, and I still hope to have some impact in the computing world.
I forget who I am sometimes, but then I remember that it's probably not worth remembering.

I wanted a machine shop and all I got for Christmas was a voltmeter.  While other kids were hiding cigarette and beer purchases from their parents, I had to hide my purchases from Radio Shack.

I guess my path was more akin to:

Trains -> Computers -> Beer & Girls -> Son -> Trains -> Electronics
