Makes me think of America. Lots of things get hung in the air on cables there.

thats silly.

i would put in pathway/courtesy lighting at the base of the trees and indirect lighting shooting up the trees.  zero exposed wiring, no bucket truck needed to maintain, tress are clearly lit to avoid liability shenanigans.

Wow, Phillips has reinvented the spanwire fitting, which European cities have had for decades and are replacing, as they age out.

This was his inspiration.

here in america we use a lot of poles and cables.  I want to rip them all down they are ugly and do not "disappear into to bla bla bla"  as they say in the video.

light poles are better.  trees are even better.  Lets genetically engineer a tree that lights up at night and plant it in all the cities. That would be innovative this is just led's on a wire.

Scavenging for parts.  What is this?  oh well I'll throw it in with the rest of the unknown stuff!

http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&q=shenanigans
Thanks for the answer, I too have searched Google before posting my question.
Do you refer to the first search result (mischievous or deceitful trick, practice) or the second one (An official declaration made by patrons of an establishment who feel they have been cheated. Once a charge of shenanigans has been accepted by an authority figure, said patrons are free to assault the owners of said establishment with brooms) or the third, etc...
Best regards.

Such a word is often used loosely. I expect in this case the meaning would be the first one. For instance if someone walked into a tree in the dark and injured themself they might claim the owner of the tree is liable for their injury by placing an obstacle in the highway and not clearly lighting it so it could be seen.

What! you would put the lights down low to make it even easier for young morons to smash them?
But,re the original posting,I think sniffing solder fumes for around 100 years has finally given Philips brain damage! ;D

yes. perhaps it wasn't the best choice of words...

here in the US, if someone was walking while texting and ran into one of those unlit trees & bruised his/her ego, a lawsuit against the property owner is a real possibility.

most municipal grade fixtures are vandal resistant. recessed & camouflaged fixtures helps curb vandalism. out of sight, out of mind type of thing...

heres some nice examples of what i was trying to describe. source. much nicer looking imo.

Phillips are champions at persuading city councils into spending money in new and useless ways. They have been at it for many years, During WW2 they conned the Nazis into wasting millions on a sterling engine powered radio system, The Nazis fell for hook line and sinker.
