I would be interested to see the relationship of new members to EEVblog reviews and teardowns. While looking for a spectrum analyzer, I discovered EEVblog on YouTube and then made it over here to the forum. The info was invaluable to me in making the decision to buy (Rigol DSA 815-TG), and more recently, to pick up an oscilloscope (Agilent DSOX 2022A). In today's world of hands-off buying, seeing a competent review and following the various equipment threads makes all the difference. Not being an Engineer, I was not immediately attracted to an engineering site, so the YouTube route got me started here (fortunately!).
In the short time that I have been a member, my knowledge has gone up exponentially! It is the efforts of guys like Dave, Alan, Shariar and others posting easy to understand, FACTUAL items that make this a great place to learn. So to the question - 'Is the Forum getting too popular?' - I think this only gets asked when the number of inane posts gets above the noise floor. A little judicious forum moderation can usually keep this down to a nominal level. In the mean time, those of us who are newer to the forum, and who are hobbyists tend to benefit a great deal even if it does feel like everyone and their cousin are joining.
