Last week, I was given access to the new
International Convention Centre in Darling Harbour (Sydney), which replaced the old Exhibition Centre. So with a 'grand master' RFID card in-hand, I got exploring and let me tell you, this place is enormous. This venue includes a 2000-3500 person capacity ballroom (the largest in Australia), three theatres with the largest seating 8000 people and several exhibition halls ranging from 13,600 sq.M to 19,000 sq.M. Among all of those there are 70 meeting/conference rooms and open spaces for all sorts of events.
The 'guts' of the building was just as interesting. 955 Cisco access points scatter the building, 10Gbps fibre connection and more digital displays than you can poke a stick at. Very impressive venue. Attached are some photos (sorry, I can only show you those taken in the 'public' areas).
I believe yesterday they had an open day to the public, did anyone from here go?
