The main problem really is, frequencies up there propagate so damn easily. You can play with 100s of MHz all day long without interfering with too much, as long as you don't hang long wires randomly off the transmitter.
The main hazards to bodily health are RF burns (touching the electrode can't be very good..) and heating (the eyes are the primary hazard, not the testes).
And for that matter, it's no worse than sitting in front of a bonfire: the IR radiation from that is so intense, you actually feel it (and not just that you feel it, but that it's so intense, you can't even get too close). And staring at a bonfire for too long will give you cataracts!
