You can put an override for a list rule into your "My filters" (#@# cosmetic override, @@ network override).  For example, the following restores avatars and images:

eevblog.com#@#[data-pagespeed-url-hash][onload^="pagespeed"]

The second one blocks all elements that have an onload attribute containing "pagespeed".  It is a library, that SMF and others use, to ensure UI images (denoted "critical") are loaded first, and all other media after.  This increasing page load speeds, reducing the latency before the page is useful.  It makes no sense to block these either; it is definitely a bug in the list.  It is what blocks avatars and other images from loading here.

I can't decide whether these (at minimum the pagespeed one) are just errors, or if a blocked member or one of the SJWs has decided to try and annoy Dave and us via EasyList, it being the main ad-blocking list I am aware of.  Maybe I'm overly paranoid, though, and they were just caught using automated scanning or something.

Just a slight correction here, this is not a SMF library, or a library at all. This is a module we run in Nginx which optimises the HTML response for client side loading speed based on the client's user agent. Ie, if you're using a chromium based brower, you will get (where it makes sense) webp images. Any rule targeting `pagespeed` as a keyword is just asinine.

My thoughts

Way to large and intrusive ads at top of pages, tiny URL links to actual content.

On  a mobile or tablet very frequently the content is missed and attempts to go to a forum subgroup, one is mistakenly dragooned to one of dozens of irrelevant and horrible ads.

Dave, please Consider that some of your followers are elderly ( affect eyesight and dexterity).

Many thanks

EasyList seem to updated their filter list. With 'cosmetic filtering' enabled in uBlock Origin all icons/emojis are visible again.

Use firefox on mobile with ublock origin, if you have android.
You can also find some text scaling plugins that might be useful.

Again, someone has added ill conceived easylist filters to eevblog.com... This time a blanket ban on "jlcpcb.com".

Code: [Select]
eevblog.com##[href*="https://jlcpcb.com/"]
eevblog.com##[href*="https://saving.em.keysight.com/"]
eevblog.com###text-49
eevblog.com##[href^="http://s.click.aliexpress.com/"]
eevblog.com##img[src^="https://www.eevblog.com/images/comm/eevblog_banner_"]

I reported on their forum: https://forums.lanik.us/index.php
I searched and see no mention of this site, so I don't know how these filters get implemented.

I am writing this as a satisfied JLCPCB customer:
That blinking banner is the top reason why I block all graphics from EEVBLOG.
Give me ads if you need them to survive, but keep them static.

There is no need to block all graphics, simply
Code: [Select]
https://www.eevblog.com/images/comm/ as was mentioned earlier in the thread. I've suggested this to easylist but no response yet.

thm_w, thanks. I just wanted to say that I use JLCPCB despite their annoying ad, not because of it. Annoying stuff like that makes a recommendation less likely, though.

If you're using uBlock you can use the picker mode to select a specific ad to be blocked (I also hate animated ads).
