Can we integrate this with eevblog and have Single SignOn?

I just found  an SMF plugin, installing now...

Yikes!  :o
I just tried to install this plugin and the forum locked up with 502 for a few minutes and the install timed out.

Never had that with a plugin before

IIRC we had a "user map" way back at the start, I forget details though...

Some of you guys are really putting your street addresses in there on a public forum?  :o

Note that they are not necessarily doing that. It's just how the software works: click any random place, and it gives you an "accurate" street address closest to that point. At least I didn't find a feature of defining "general whereabouts".

These "street addresses" you see are not likely the correct ones.

For me, my actual address is all over the place anyway, as I'm an enterpreneur. No big harm done. Come visit me, and I'll make some bad-tasting Finnish coffee.

1. You don't have to log in to add a marker. At least I didn't.
2. The special URL is so that you can edit it later.

The only downside I can see is that it is open to absolutely anyone with internet access.

OK, I'm on there and I didn't need to logon or create an account. As for the privacy thing, you get a map pin in the city center and that's it, I need to keep SWMBO happy.

And I think that having a map of EEVBlog members is a good idea.

Me too. I wish that plugin worked, but now I'm spooked that it took the forum 502 for a few minutes and then failed to install from what I can see.

It is a good thing to do although people do need to be aware of what they are putting up. I know Zero999 personally out of a pure fluke and we are not neigbours, he lives 15 miles from me. When I returned to the UK and joined a social club I put a link to that social clubs site in my signature on another well known electronics forum that we both used at the time. He came and found me at a district event where the clubs all met up and we have been friends since.

Congratulations ... you made it.

Now for the $64 million question...

How do we control the little oddities such as the pin someone dropped on Moscow?

I was expecting an EEVblog site map, which might have been more useful. :)

As well as an accurate location, could you please include a list of any expensive equipment, plus the dates you go on holiday.
TIA. :)

.  That took much longer than I thought it would.

When i was a boy my dad would continually caution me about not telling people about what we had. He collected lots of stuff and just in railway gear he had £1000 worth. but these days i see people constantly making a song and dance on face book about being on holiday. I never even found out about our holidays until my dad told me on the day that i was not going to school. He is a bit paranoid but we seem to be totally the other way these days. I work on the basis that locally i am known to be a bit of a nut and nerd and god knows what i have rigged up in my house. For starters next time i go on holiday a sign is going on the door to warn about the 10KVA of battery storage i have and high voltage DC gear, that will keep anyone local at bay.

If I list my equipment you are all going to feel so sorry for me you will feel obligated to send me money :)

Can we get the EEVBlog Map sticky pinned to the top so it gets seen?  that way it will be more likely to get used.

I do not see any value of this gadget, let alone a need to make it sticky.

That seems to have worked.
I will not put my exact address in of course.
The city and suburb are accurate.
Where are we going, and why are we in a handbasket?
