My awesome dumpster finds for the day.
« on: February 25, 2016, 09:50:25 pm »
I dumpster dive at my local military base, normally when i start getting close to Missle Defense, and NASA..No one is ever around when im in the area so i help myself to their discards.

not sure how to add a image so i did attachment. Maybe someone could tell me how to add them direct to the post. im trying with photobucket but we will see. they should be working as they just toss out good parts for new stuff, especially during budget time. it is budget time. these were in a old machine with vacuum tubes.

Awesome, wish there was cool shit like that near my area lol. Now you just need to find a reason to use the gauges.

i have found a reason, im going to use the smaller one in a prop, the gauge ticks at 1v i tested it with a 1.5v battery that was reading just at a volt. so i am going to attach it to a 555 timer, and use it to act as functional art in one of my prop projects.

Buy it, use it, break it, fix it, Trash it, change it, mail upgrade it, Charge it, point it, zoom it, press it, Snap it, work it, quick - erase it,

As a kid I remember my dad taking 3 gauges and mounting them in a wooden box with a handle.  All were analog.

It was basically something you plug into a 120V outlet and it gave you the voltage and cycles and had a non-resetable time counter.

The cycle meter was interesting because it consisted of several thin strips of metal with the end facing down.  Above each strip was a cycle number.  The strips resonated and the one with the most visible resonation was what the frequency was for your line voltage.

i like that meter, i like the old electronics for whatever reason..to see what they were doing all those years ago. To think of what was really in the pannels of the moon lander.

I work off a military base, i am tasked with hauling away what the deem junk, and sometime they just toss out really good stuff, just becasue they are trying to use up there budgets, other times its just outdated stuff that still works mind you, but they got new fancy stuff.

I tend to find a lot of unopend unused parts.
