18 mths ago, we took out an "EE" fibre package (UK) and pay +£10 for a "Smart WiFi" add-on, which basically encompasses a "Smart Router", "Mesh" WiFi discs, x3, and they supply a "4GEE" 4G mini hotspot, which they keep topped up with 2GB per month, and if your broadband goes down, you contact them and they add an extra 250GB to see you through the fibre b/band outage.

Here's where I smell a rat - the mesh discs are available to purchase OUTRIGHT, here: https://shop.ee.co.uk/broadband/smart-wifi

Nowhere on that page is this "Smart WiFi" add-on to a home broadband package, mentioned as being a pre-requistite for these "Mesh" discs to work. I have just called "EE", and they spun me the line that "Your Smart WiFi discs will be disabled if you cancel the add-on"

I think this is (conveniently for them), a (deliberate?) mis-understanding of how these discs work. I have PAID OFF the cost of ALL the equipment, so, does this sound fishy to you, too? If anyone has any in-depth knowledge of the inner machinations of "EE" (same as "BT" and their same "Smart WiFi" discs - BT are the parent co, the "EE" discs are re-brands) and how these "mesh" things work?

I also refer you to this cached "EE" forum post, where another subscriber has the same query: https://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:6LoAsXzB_osJ:https://community.ee.co.uk/t5/Broadband-home-phone/Smart-WiFi-Add-On-Mis-selling/td-p/1113137+&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=uk

Many thanks indeed.  :-+
