Capacitors, Batteriser and Static charges....
« on: December 18, 2015, 09:15:15 pm »
I've been reading many online posts praising the benefits for super capacitors, the (soon to be) Batteriser, and of course the mystical energy contained in statically charged surfaces.

The THOR CON-FUSION-ISER
Lightning/Condenser/Fusion device

I'd like to propose a crowd-funded initiative that allows you to walk on woollen carpet, or other static generating method - to charge a Supercap.
This could then be harnessed by Batteriser to power everything until the next millennium... simply by walking around the house, standing on a hill in a lightning storm or other suitable activity.
 - even at 10% conversion efficiency, would be easily capable of powering a DeLorean, or Apple keyboard.
A sure fire (lightning) 'hit'.

All the magical properties of these devices would be revealed for all to see.
We could offer an unconditional lifetime warranty (lightning hits excluded).

Shuffling, and getting a shock from the doorknob will be a thing of the past... from now on, you'll be charging Supercaps, and saving the free world from wasteful primary batteries with Batteriser!

Don't ask a question if you aren't willing to listen to the answer.

I'm in! but only if it makes use of the magical powers of a neodymium magnet.

McBryce.

That's an upsell, or goal reward.
Neodymium magnets and a pyramid charging frame.

What, no graphene?
Damn. Another opportunity!

Farmers used to charge batteries from static charges developed on a mile of fenceline.  You are just a little short.
Neat... But they didn't have a Batteriser!
They could have used shorter fences to charge their bulls(###)

Farmers used to charge batteries during the depression  from static charges developed on a mile of fence line.  You are just a little short.

I heard that someone tapped power from a radio transmission tower using a similar method - but got caught because of the RF shadow it cast...

I have to confess that when I first researched this about five years ago all the stories seemed to trace back to one guy named Willie and the explanation of the hookup varied. The size of the battery likely got exaggerated too.  It seemed that something so widespread should have a lot more history.   There was a lot of excitement on one board with many people going to build these, but never heard any results..

Energy harvesting is an interesting subject. You can't get large power amounts that way (except with big solar or wind power gear) but it can be enough to power some small but useful bits. Some recent low power products, whith carefull power management, can do a fair number of things, while fed literally out of thin air.
